I have to say the staff at the New Orleans JW was memorable. They went out of there way to help us and guide us. In particular, Miss Julia was amazing and should be commended for her above and beyond service and attitude.

JW Marriott is conveniently located on Canal Street at the edge of the French Quarter. Easy walking access to much of the main spots in the Quarter and he Central Business District. One day our maid had not cleaned the room at 4 PM and came to our door announcing that her back hurt too much to get to our room, so she just left clean towels and glasses and left, not offering room maintenance by another member of staff. Our keycards kept becoming ineffective to the room or to the Executive Suite. I needed to go to Front Desk four times over five days to get the cards re-magnetized properly. Great service , Shula's resturant little pricy , room service was great . Parking was a surprise 39.00 a day plus they tax parking , over all a 7 because location is great .

We were very pleased with our stay at the JW. The service throughout was very good - from the car valet, to check-in and when we needed a new iron brought to the room. The room looked a little dated, but it was quiet, comfortable and a good size. I loved the location - just a short walk to one end of Bourbon Street.

I thought I was booking the Marriott on the French Quarter side of Canel, only because the Royal Sonesta was booked. The J W Marriott was much nicer and very guest friendly. Very easy to get in and out of Quarter on foot, and once you figure out how to get to valet parking, which is on Common St., not Canal, much easier to get to other areas by car. […] Very clean, great maid, valet and bell hop service and very pretty. Great hotel location. Friendly staff. Quiet rooms....we arrived early Thursday morning and the front desk offered to hold our luggage until our room could be cleaned. They recommended a great breakfast spot just around the corner (Red Gravy) and before noon they called with our room. The hotel gym was large with ample equipment and a nice roof top pool. […] Our room was comfortable and clean but a little small for a luxury suite. We had a nice corner view with large windows. The in room coffee was very nice. The room did not have a refrigerator but the front desk sent one up free of charge upon request. The lobby had great seating areas and a nice bar with march madness playing. Our friends were staying at the courtyard next door to the JW and they always wanted to meet in our hotel, commenting on how much nicer it was than the courtyard. Also there were laptop stations for the guest to utilize in the lobby. The location was great and only a short walk to restaurants and night life . Highly recommend staying at this hotel!! It was a great place to stay at. You could see the parade right out side the entrance. Only problem is when you want to leave during the parade, you dont have access. Regardless, not a bad place to stay at all!

I really enjoyed the service too. I wish that there was a dining place that was less meat-oriented and a bit less pricy and that the dining in (room service) menu,which was reasonably priced, had one or two more exiting vegetarian options. This is New Orleans after all. I liked the fitness room -- basic but good.

This hotel is definitely nicer than the Marriott across the street, however, the rooms are small, the bathroom is tiny and the staff was not very nice. We had pre-paid for 3 nights on the Concierge floor with another family. I had called the hotel about 2 weeks before our arrival to confirm our rooms and ask for them to be close to eachother or on the […] same floor. Our rooms were also guaranteed! I also asked the concierge to help with a New Year Eve reservation. The gentleman referred a restaurant and told us the set menu price would be $39 for adults and $18 for kids. I looked at the menu several times over the next week and then 2 days before our arrival, I noticed the restuarants menu had changed. They were now charging $60 for adults and no kids prices. I called the concierge and explained my frustration and he called the restaurant and then said there wasn't anything he could do. He suggested another place, but I told him I wanted to speak with the other family first. Next thing I knew was he left me a message that he cancelled my first reservation and made the other- without my approval.Then when we checked in they would not guarantee our rooms on the concierge floor evne thought that is what we prepaid. They claimed one room was not ready because an Elite Marriott memeber had not checked out and even thoguth it was 6:30 p.m. they said he doesn't have to check out and can stay as long as he wans because he is an Elilte. My wife and I have stayed here on multiple occasions in the past. The hotel is always clean and comfortable. And we like the borderline location between the French Quarter and the CBD. The exercise facilities are critical for me when staying at a hotel. The JW has your standard 4 star hotel fitness center. Great location, close to everything. Hotel has a nice feel to it. Front desk was very professional. Noticed an error in a room charge after I checked out and it was corrected with one phone call, no fuss. Fresh fruit at the front desk, coffee, flavoured water in the lobby. Loved the hotel, the staff, decor of hotel and room.....but the bathroom is too small. No vanity space at all. Also, no queen beds??? Double beds are just a tad small for us with the kids. If it's just the two of us, with a king bed I will return! Give yourself PLENTY of time to get your car at departure time.

The experience overall was great. The only downside was that we could hear the next door room's conversations through the connecting door of our two rooms. Seeing as we did not know them, this was an upset.

The hotel is beautiful. The room was gorgeous. Food is outstanding. Bars are friendly. Location is perfect for the French Quarter. Staff was great. The internet is terrible...was unable to do business by internet while there....our only complaint.

The J.W. Marriot is perfectly located to enjoy all the delights of New Orleans. It is within walking distance of Bourbon Street, Cafe Du Monde, Riverwalk, and transportation to the Garden District. WIFI in your room is extra unless you are Marriott Elite member. At $15/day I find this rediculuos (sp). This should have been rolled up into the cost of the room which is in the premium range anyway. Everything else was great even though they were remodeling part of the lobby at the time.

This was a fantastic hotel in a great location of the city. Extremely clean and comfortable. The service was excellent and the facilities were top notch. If anyone wants to stay in a great hotel near Boubon Street, but not in the middle of it, then I would definitely stay at the J.W. Marriott in New Orleans.
