Hotel is in a good location - very close to Union Square, the cable car route on Powell, shopping and restaurants. The drawback for me was that the hotel did not offer free wifi in the rooms or the lobby (however free wifi is available around Union Square and at Macy's so it didn't matter too much) and they did not have a minibar in the room. "Caution about variable pricing"
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was at a good location very near Union Square. The public areas of the hotel were very beautiful. The hotel and room had a very modern feel. The towels were thick. However, the desk chair seat springs were starting to break down a little and there was no additional reading chair in the room. The […] one challenge I would note is that this was a conference hotel for a very large conference. For this reason, I was paying peak rates, which meant that the room was significantly overpriced for what it was. Travelers should note that parking in the area is very expensive. I was very happy with the hotel valet parking, but be sure to check the price in advance so that it is not a surprise. "Nice hotel, but they Nickel and Dime you"
Nice hotel. For those not familiar with SF, this is in Union Square which is a nice shopping district right in the middle of crackheadville - just in case you don't know that. But that's fine - it's where most of the nice hotels are. The only real problem we had was that they nickel and dime you everywhere. You get a "good" rate, but then you pay $45 […] a day for parking, and $15 a day for internet (PER DEVICE!), $20 a day if you want to use the gym/spa/pool, etc. etc. etc. I was surprised they didn't include a charge for our toilet paper. The Nikko is easy to get to via BART and Muni and is a well-run hotel that accomodates business travelers and families with ease. The food is good, including room service and the buffet breakfast at Anzu. My daughters were presented with their choice from a chest of rubber duckies when we arrived which was a nice touch. "PERFECT hotel for first time SF vacationers!"
PERFECT location for the first time visitor in the gorgeous city of san francisco! me and my wife booked this hotel upon finding out that it is a japanese owned 4 star hotel (the japanese are very well known for their cleanliness and politeness). upon arriving at the hotel we were NOT disappointed. hotel was very clean, very classy and sophisticated, […] and the main lobby staff were very courteous and helpful (they even gave us a map of the city and highlighted the important landmarks to visit). the hotel itself is off the corner of o'farrell and mason street, jus 1 block away from powell which immediately shows you the route to union square and on the opposite side, access to the cable cars, and the bart station off powell and many more shops, restaurants. VERY conveniently located. MANY places to eat right when you get on powell (japanese, thai, italian, steakhouses) and a starbucks right on the hotel entrance for a quick coffee pick-me-up before you go exploring! as far as the room goes, VERY clean, housekeeping does a great job cleaning your room after you've gone to the city. spa and pool are very nice. this hotel made our trip perfect! i would definitely make this my hotel of choice whenever i go visit sf! "Friendly and Pretty Hotel!"

"Nikko has become my favorite value hotel in town"
There are higher end hotels, but you'll pay quite a bit more for them. The hotel in impeccably clean and modern. Rooms are tidy and usable. Amenities like a pool and work out room excellent. Hotel Nikko was fantastic. Beautiful hotel, really clean, spacious, high ceilings, spotless, really nice room. Super comfortable bed with great pillows. Shower was fantastic; like getting a massage. Hotel staff was very helpful. I will definitely stay there on future visits to LA. Excellent value. Only things, I would change is to provide free wi-fi […] and a small refrigerator in the rooms.
