The Bay Plaza Hotel - Wellington

We had a bit of a difficulty getting to the hotel since the main entrance is off a one way, but managed after turning around. The room was clean and the hotel is close to shopping and the waterfront. I recently stayed at the Bay Plaza on my first trip to Wellington, and made the booking through Hotels.com. I had used the service before so was trusting of the ratings and the overall reporting of a hotel's performance, so I didn't hesitate to repeat a booking. The hotel is magnificently located for all things (within easy walking distance of Wellington's […] main attractions, and there's a supermarket across the road and some brilliant coffee within a stone's throw! Originally planned for a two night stay but extended for another two nights and they were kind enough to match the rate! Wonderful service, the friendliest staff and an overall excellent experience. I even had a message waiting for me under my door upon my return from someone who'd called for me earlier. If you want a budget friendly hotel that doesn't skimp on the service, look no further! The staff could not have been more pleasant, and check in was easy. However, one of our beds (perhaps both) had sheets that were dirty which was a real downer. To the staff's credit they immediately changed them but still...however their friendliness and helpfulness at check in makes me say I would recommend this hotel though with a caveat. We stayed for one night at this hotel whilst touring. The rooms were adequate but I found the bathroom to have old fixtures and fittings which needed a deep clean - I couldn't bring myself to take a shower! The bed was comfortable though.

Although the rooms are not that modern they are comfortable. The location of the hotel is great and within walking distance of all the major attractions. Good value for a city hotel

Convenient location with car parking available. The bathroom small and somewhat dated but the room comfortable.

If you are looking for a clean place close to Restaurants, bars, the museum etc and aren't worried about staying in top notch accommodations, this is a great place. There is a New World across the street, parking lot out back, a 2 minute walk to bars, restaurants, the museum. Great way to see Wellington on a budget.

good location, friendly staff, in need of refurb

the hotel was about as expected, The cost for Wifi for a day was significantly higher then other places in the area $25nzd/ 24hrs of wifi, however the food in the bar/restaurant was amazing.

This hotel is in a great location. On the bay, lots of great places to eat near by, walking distance to museum and across the street there's a supermarket. This hotel is old - it has had some refurbishments, so it's not bad but the room size is small and the plumbing is loud, (noise from near by rooms). 1960s bathroom that hasn't been updated yet. I only needed to stay one night in Wellington. All the arrangements went well. The room was small but all I needed. The location was great at the east end of Courtney Place. In spite of being next to the fire station I heard nothing. I only ate breakfast there; it was fine. Internet access was available in the room - I did not need anything else.

The Hotel was very handy to all the activities we wanted to do. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only complaint we had was the room was too warm. Not sure if there was any air conditioning. But overall very happy with our stay.

This hotel was good value, with the breakfast included in price, we had 10th floor with fantastic view of the city.The location was good close to everything restaurants and wharf, and action etc. The room itself is nothing special,but adequate,the view makes up for it. the dining staff were very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was great..

This hotel is in bad need of renovation. Very old bathroom fixtures, dowdy furnishings in room, sheets not starched. Its location is good near the Te Papa Museum, but the neighborhood is otherwise somewhat seedy.

Très bien situé. Par contre, parking voiture trop petit, chambre un peu petite et qui manque de rénovation. Pas de wifi gratuit.

Rigtig god service. Vaerelset var lille men meget hyggeligt. Der var room service, og maden var virkeligt god. Jeg skulle bare overnatte inden jeg skulle videre til Sydney og afstanden var god, ca. 15 min i Taxi til lufthavnen. Der var Internet paa vaerelset til en fast pris. Man skal ellers passe paa med at bruge Internet paa hoteller i New Zealand, […] da nogle af dem har en masse tillaegspriser, hvis man bruger det meget, saa man kan ende med at faa et kaempe-chock, naar man faar regningen.
