My mother and I had a lovely time at the Portmarnock Hotel, would thoroughly recommend it. It is a lovely walk into Malahide, definitely will be returning soon.

Everything was first class, including high speed WiFi everywhere and free parking. Only 10 mins taxi ride to Dublin airport. Why look anywhere else.

This Hotel is fabulous but needs more attention to detail. The hook on the Bathroom door was broken off and on opening the bedroom door it was quite "stale" smelling. No bottled water for guests in the bedroom. The staff are lovely but there is one "girl" who trips off the "you are welcome" etc but lacks genuine warmeth! On the other hand, there is […] a lady who is in charge of the breakfast called Mary Jo and she is amazingly efficient, friendly and helpful. A joy to encounter! The hotel is a great deal. We got a lot more than we expected in every respect. Rooms are excellent quality extremely clean, and very well maintained. Beautiful hotel in great location and convenient to Malahide town. Rooms spacious and decorated tastefully. Some maintenance work going on in hotel but didn't affect us. Lovely hotel for a break but wouldn't bring the kids as there is no swimming pool. Was disappointed with breakfast service - had to wait 10 mins before being shown to a table. When […] my husband and I returned from the self service breakfast buffet we found someone else sitting at our table which had also been allocated to them. We were then moved to a different table. The bed was a little hard, but the room was very clean and had a good view of the court yard. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. It was a little bit of a trip into Dublin but worth it to be right on the ocean. Had a pleasant stay here in a delux room. Extremely disappointed that we didn't receive our requested golf view room and when I went and asked to be moved, I felt like a second class citizen from the unhelpful receptionist because I hadn't booked directly on the hotel website. Our huge room was overlooking the 'secret garden' the bed was massive and […] the bathroom was outstanding. They were decorating the hotel lobby area when we stayed there so didn't look the best but the rest of the hotel looked great. We didn't eat there but we did have drinks in the bar - live music on the Saturday night and bar was buzzing so was nice. Close to malahide (10 euro in a taxi) for nice pubs and restaurants. But the best was being so close to the beach, we had a two hour walk in the morning which really set us up for the day. Would I come back? Probably but would want the golf view room. Our stay was designed to give us a "jet lag recovery" day and I would have liked to stay a bit longer. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The lobby is beautiful and the front desk staff excellent - very accommodating and friendly.. Lunch service in the dining room was less than enthusiastic but the soup was excellent. The spa needs to be updated […] but the therapy bath and massage were perfect after a 19 hour travel schedule. I took my wife here for a surprise birthday and I struck gold. We loved our stay here, lovely location. Just far enough out of Dublin centre. The staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and they were genuinely happy to help. We found the food excellent and at a very reasonable in price. We ate there everyday for lunch which we don't normally […] do in a hotel we stay at. We will defintely be back. I would also recommend the horse and carriage ride that Marj in Howth. The room we booked was great, very comfortable, but it was NOT the room we booked. Our reservation confirmation from hotels.com specified a room with a view over the golf links to the sea. But they put us in an inward (courtyard) facing room, and then (the duty manager) tried to tell us there were no sea & golf view rooms! When we could clearly see […] from the corridor there were. As we checked in, we noticed our original printed room number was overwitten in pen, so we assume our sea view room was given away to another guest (probably they saw a chance to sell an upgrade). Room very nice, large by EU standards, good beds, quiet. WiFi in rooms not great. Did not eat at the hotel so no comment on food. Staff very friendly. Nice bar. Played their links golf course, very nice, pro shop staff very helpful. Overall a very nice experience.

Enjoyed it. Was surprised that there was no list of TV stations in the room. Was the only hotel I have stayed in that did not have it. Got a copy of them from reception but found it to be an incorrect listing. Had trouble with heating but maintenance did sort it after two phone calls to reception. Not what one would expect from the grade of hotel. At the front desk, we asked if someone could help us with our bags. Was told there wasn't anyone available to help us with our bags. We are an older couple and had to carry our bags up the front steps in the rain.

We just needed a comfortable bed for the night as we had flown in at a late hour. The beds were v comfortable and we had a lovely breakfast. The dining room staff were very efficient on a busy morning. There was a lovely view from the bar.

we arrived from the States after a lengthy flight and did not want to deal with downtown Dublin. Portamarnock was an easy drive north and they allowed early check-in (noon). We crashed for a couple of hours then drove up the coast a bit and did some exploring. We dined in Malahide, a short hop from the hotel . Breakfast was huge and tasty. The hotel is beautiful...large tub and separate shower...our room was golf/beach view but because we were on the 1st floor there really was no view due to high vegetation...if you really want a view get an upper level room....awesome golf course but you will lose a lot of balls as the grass is very tall...they charged us 3 euros per ball at the course […] so bring balls of your own...Overall loved this resort. For the money, this is a great hotel in a good location right next to the beach. It's peaceful, quiet, clean, friendly, and there are things to do in the area even if you don't play golf. If the city life isn't for you, then this is a great choice.

This was the perfect way to end our vacation in Ireland. We were able to walk down to the beach and enjoy the Irish Sea. The views from the cafe were fabulous and the staff very attentive. Our room was a "golf course" view although due to angle of the building we mostly saw another building, but we didn't spend that much time in the room and that is […] what made it affordable. Check in Fast and Easy. Room - nice and clean. Breakfast buffet - top notch!! Bus to Dublin and Malahide right by entrance. Fast cab service if needed. Beach right there, walking trail to Malahide right there too. Computer use for those who don't have a laptop. Highly recommended!!

Wait staff is rather inattentive, you can be there a while before anyone checks on you. Other than that and the high drink prices this place is very nice. I left the bar following one drink because no one was around and when I checked out the next day I had been charged for two drinks.

Great location beside beach and golf course. Comfortable bedrooms offering good value. Only a small bar and restaurnant (mainly golfers) open despite better facilities in a bar downstairs. All chairs in bar/restaurant beside tables are in poor condition and need to be replaced. Great food and freindly staff.
