Days Inn Great Lakes, in North Chicago - Tasik Bluff

My hotel saty started out shakey with the cord attached to the room heater was cut off and I did not have any heat in the room. After contacting the front desk they took care of the problem and moved me to a different room which was to my satisfaction.

Ok, so in the last 2 weeks I have stayed at 2 Days Inn. The one in Waukegan which is a dump and this one. First, this is just off of 41. Parking was plentiful. The woman who greeted me was excellent. the front was clean. the hallways were clean. the room was very clean. the bathroom tiles clean. shower clean. towels were folded and smelled great. The people working at days inn are very kind and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to any person visiting Chicago. We will be staying again!

The only good thing about this hotel was the fact that it was close to the recruit command center. Customer service sucked! They actually wanted to charge 15$ to use the microwave! Would not recommend staying there

My first night stay at the Days Inn Great Lakes, in North Chicago, was pleasent. The second night how ever, When we returned from the Navy Graduation, our keys would not access the building, nor the room. Then after resolving that situation, the owner accused me and the other people that attended the room of smoking in the room, when his son had just […] seen me coming in from the snow outside from smoking. The employees here are unprofessional and need additional training on policy and procedures; they also need customer service training as well as training on how to address management properly. I have been in the customer service industry for 20+ years and I have never seen such disrespect and defiance from employees as I witness at this location. My […] over all interaction with the employees was horrible which affected my opinion of my stay. This hotel was affordable and conveniently located about ten minutes from RFUMS. The decor was a little dated, but everything was clean and the bed was most comfortable. The staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful in providing directions and information on the area.

My stay was great. I stayed for 1 night to see my sister whos in the Navy. Very convenient location, the staff was SUPER friendly, and the room was a great room all together. I definatly reccomend this hotel and I will definatly be staying here again!

priced high for room type and class of hotel...no real service..room keys didn't work..their breakfast was a bad joke..food bad..coffee even worse....if you want anything extra..ie frig, 2 beds, late check out...way over priced for the services. Very poor breakfast. Would like to see the local TV channels listed in the rooms.

The hotel staff was nice upon arrival. When entering the room, stuffiness and weird odor sent me straight to Walgreens to purchase Febreeze. During the night, the room got extremely hot and then extremely cold. I'm glad I only purchased one night.

I was dissatisfied with many aspects of hotel service. We stayed there two days and housekeeping never came by to change anything. Anytime toilet paper, towels, or anything else was needed we had to ask. Also, the first room I was given had not even been cleaned before I arrived. We had nothing but headaches with this hotel. First, when we arrived, our room was ready and hadn't been cleaned, and they told us to come back in a few hours, and had nowhere to put our luggage in the meantime. When we finally did get a room (not the type we booked) the magnetic key cards didn't work. We took them back up to the desk, where the same […] extremely rude employee (in his D&G glasses) programmed the cards again. Went back to the room, and they still didn't work. We finally got into the room, which was well-kept and reasonably clean, though without any of the usual comforts (we had to check out an iron at the desk, the TV was circa 1982 with rabbit ears and a discolored double-picture, and the shampoo provided could not possibly have gotten one head clean, let alone two). The hot water came and went sporadically, in 2-to-3 second bursts of hot-cold-hot-cold, in both the sink and the shower. The key card fiasco happened twice more while we were there, and had also been a problem for every other guest we spoke to. At one point there was a line at the front desk of people waiting to have their keys reprogrammed. This is a nice place to stay when coming to see a recruit graduate. Rather Spartan, but clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast area is small and can be crowded, but most folks are there for the same reason so it's a nice group to meet and talk with. For the price it can't be beat.

We were greeted at the front door by cockroaches bigger than I have seen on that side of the Pacific. They staff required that we sign declarations that we do not take any of the appliances and the telephone in the room did not work. The staff themselves were very nice but the facilities really needed some TLC.

All the personnal at this Hotel were super and most helpful with all aspects of our stay

paper thin walls couldn't sleep too noisy, stains on carpet and shower curtain, hot water didn't work right, we asked the guy at the front desk how to get to the beach and he kept babbling on and on about some stupid mall then directed us to a private beach we weren't allowed to visit. The only thing good about this hotel was the location. It is very Close to Great Lakes Naval Base where we were visiting our Daughter. The bathroom in our room was not clean including mold growing on the shower curtain and aroud the shower and the floor. The cleaning crews idea of cleaning was spraying some lysol or pinesol sothe odor was stifulling. […] We spent the whole two days with the window wide open and the fans runnig full blast. The connential breakfast was basically nonexistant since everything looked to be gone as soon as the cleaning crew showed up at 6:00am. Additionally, when we checked in I informed the staff we may be leaving a day early which we did. They charged me for the room any way even though we had checked out. Location was excellent for the graduation at the Naval Recruit Training Center. The staff were very nice. Continental breakfast with the make your own waffles was fun. I would recommend for families going to boot camp graduation.

The location had all the amenities I needed for my stay. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and the location was convenient. Checking in and out was fast and easy. It's nothing fancy, but a good place to stay for those passing through town, or those looking for a place to stay while interviewing at a nearby university.

Worth the money. Not as good as other Days Inn I have stayed in over the last ten years.

Visited Rosalind Franklin University and stayed overnight. The hotel was quiet and clean. Not much to the hotel but the breakfast was good. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Hotel is run down. Staff is untrained and rude. Room had not been cleaned upon arrival. Not suitable for children. Upgrade to a better chain of hotels if you plan to spend any time in this run down establishment.

It was a cheap hotel, as expected. However, it says the room have a fridge and microwave in them, they don't unless you want to go rent them from the front desk. Also the thermostat doesn't do anything other then tell you what the temp in the room is. There's no way to set the temperature other than guess and check. They never cleaned our room the entire time we were there. We had to go and get our own supply of towels, T. Paper, Kleenex, etc. The door keys were changed everytime we returned to the motel. Breakfast was bread for toast. They had boiled eggs, still in the shell, for a couple of days. No jelly or p.butter for the toast, only butter. Coffee was always […] empty, so we had to ask for that to be filled. Very poorly managed. The carpets also needed to be cleaned. We booked online and received a really great rate. Our rooms were very nice- clean and had everything we needed. The Lady at the front desk was very nice when she checked us in. She was very pleasant and smiling! Great Customer Service!!

The check-in process was smooth. However our "non-smoking" room was so smoky my contacts were drying out! This hotel had dirty carpet in the hallways and cigarette burns in our non-smoking room. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything including traffic. Staff was friendly and helpful, though.

The first bad thing was that the hotel was not ready at check in. When we got into the room there was only one dirty towel in each room and we reserved two rooms for two people in each room. Also room service took an hour to just bring us towels after waking us up at 8 am for room service. Also free breakfast is included but put away a half an hour […] early. The hotel was dissappointing as it appears to be poorly maintained and neglected. The floor at the entry to the lobby was crumbling and the hallway in the non smoking portion of the hotel smelled of cigarette smoke. The furniture in the room was beat up, the TV was older and the screen was so blurred that it was almost impossible to watch it.

I booked this hotel as it was close to the Naval Base I was visiting. Where to start? When I checked in I was informed I had a smoking room when my reservation specifically said I reserved a non-smoking room. The girl at the desk could have cared less and because they full couldn't switch me to a new room. The room obviously smelled like an ashtray, […] the carpets were spotted with what looked like alcohol and dry blood. We had one channel on the TV and when I called to tell the front desk they said they would look into it and I never head anything again. Everything in the room was just old and dirty. I refused to walk around without shoes on. The absolute worst part about the room is that I had NO HOT WATER the entire time. For three days I showered in cold water and when I demanded that this be rectified in some way with the front desk girl, she said she would call the manger and have him contact me later in the day. Again, no follow up, NOTHING. I didn't stay here because of the price. I stayed here because it was the closest I could get to the Naval Base. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. I live in the area, but had to get a room for one night because my furnace was broken and would not be fixed until the next day. I chose this Days Inn because it was close to work and the price was good. The staff and room were fine for the price. The problem was a bunch of Navy students decided to get a room there for the weekend and party all night. […] I was kept up until 2am from loud music, slamming doors, and people yelling. I called the front office twice, but five minutes after the staff told them to break up the party, they were back at it again. It was very upsetting for someone that had to get up at 5am. The Days Inn Hotel has been by far the best hotel i have ever been in. I am a United States Sailor so i move around a lot and I honestly say this is a great hotel to be staying in. I have been staying here for five nights and the service is awesome, if you need something they will not hesitate to bring it for you or provide you with the best information […] they can. Staying here is like staying at home. The rooms are luxurious. It is 2 minutes away from the Naval Base for graduating Sailors. my family stayed here when i graduated and they loved it. The first day my husband and I arrived, "housekeeping" walked in on my husband changing clothes 15 minutes after we were in the room. We were told it was our fault because we checked in 3 minutes early! Check-in is at 11:00!!

i thought this hotel was very comfortable, an the staff were very nice and helpful. but with everything we got, the price was way too high! we didnt have a fridgerater,my room didnt match the pictures at all.i had to change rooms one time bc in the first room, i woke up an it was filled with flying bugs! it was nice, but not what i was expecting
