"Not Imprssed"
Although this hotel has a high rating on Hotels.com, it has much lower ratings on other travel sites. I only stayed here because there were no rooms available in Barra. The hotel exterior was being renovated, so the balcony was closed and covered in debris. The view from the hotel was blocked by the construction covering. Inside the room was worse. […] There was a mini-fridge, it was stocked, but broken, so the drinks were warm. There's a slot for tissues in the bathroom, but no tissues. There were no washcloth-size towels. The air-conditioning barely worked, taking over 24 hours to cool the room to a reasonable temperature. The tub lacked a plug, so there was no way to take a bath. The water pressure was high, so much so that when I turned on the sink it sprayed powerfully down the drain, spraying black drain scum all over the sink and counter. There were paid and free Internet options, I tried both and they were equally horrible and unusable. I'd rate this amongst some of the worst hotel internet I've encountered in my travels worldwide. I could not get any of the speed testing websites to load without timing out. The room and furnishings were old, the carpet stained and worn. The bed sheets seemed clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The location is near the beach, but there is very little in the immediate area to see or do. Breakfast was included and was good. "Royal Tulip (Former Intercontinental Hotel)"
I have stayed at this hotel on many occassions for business. It was formerly the Intercontinental hotel. It is out of the way of the very crowded beaches and offers some nice beach going. "Nice view, poor services!"
Excelent view in front of a nice beach, good restaurant, but bad services. Poor internet connection and very expensive (U$D 20 per day and it doesn´t work), they didn´t have the reservation into the system and took 2 days fixed it up. You need to compain all the time to get things done. It is close to Copacabana and Leblon, but the traffic is terribe. […] I would never come back to this hotel. "Great Customer Service"
This was an emergency trip for a family illness. Under this stressful condition, the InterContinental was very helpful. Their customer service was fantastic. They helped with booking issues and adjustments, took my broken cell phone to see if it could be fixed and took care to get us bilingual taxi drivers. "Close to great beach"
Very happy with our stay after spending some time in the busier area of Copacabana / Ipanema. This hotel was an excellent choice & we had a great view of Sao Conrado beach & hotel pool from our room. The pool area had plenty of chairs & small tables as well as a bar & snack bar. The lovely beach & boardwalk was only a two minute walk from the hotel. […] The room was very comfortable & the only complaint I would have was that the carpet could have done with a cleaning - everything else in the hotel was very clean & well kept. This hotel had a great buffet breakfast with lots of variety of hot & cold foods. The hotel free mini bus was great for getting into Leblon / Ipanema / Copacobana beaches & the final stop was at the Rio Sul - a main shopping centre which then made it easy to access other areas of Rio de Janeiro. Lots of taxis & buses outside the main entrance. A special touch from the hotel was the surprise arrival of a birthday cake & candies for my husband's big birthday. This hotel is in a beautiful location but is far away from the main tourist sights. Hotel shuttle service is inadequate. There are better choices near Ipanema or Copacabana. gli aspetti negativi che mi ritrovo a segnalare sono i seguenti: quando sono arrivata nel bagno della stanza erano presenti gli asciugamani usati appesi nella porta degli occupanti precedenti, i saponi non sono mai stati rimessi nonostante fossero terminati, e sopratutto vorrei segnalare l'inammissibile maleducazione di uno dei receptionist quando abbiamo […] chiesto se il giorno del chek out potevamo lasciare la stanza alle 14 invece che alle 12. Al di la del fatto che questa richiesta non potesse essere concessa (e sarebbe la prima volta che capita!!!) credo che la cortesia sopratutto in hotels di un certo livello sia d'obbligo. "Falta de manutenção"
A estrutura comum do hotel é otima ( piscina, academia e restaurantes) porém falta manutenção nos quartos. O carpete e ar condicionado estão empueirados, as paredes do banheiro estão com limo e o frigobar não é limpo há anos. De preferencia para os quartos com vista pra piscina.
