Casablanca Winery Inn - Grimsby

FIrst we had a room that reeked from carpet fresh with a toilet that didn't work. then they moved us to a mini-suite. The room could easily be great, bed is comfortable. The furniture is dated and they still use bed spreads. I stay in hotels 10-12 nights per month and haven't seen a bed spread in years. Also the pillows are terrible. The entrance of Casablanca Winery Inn screams class and elegance so I was extremely surprised and disappointed by the individual rooms once I checked in. First off, the decor is so dated that I felt as though my room had transported me back to the 50s. Secondly, I was given a terrible location of room 102, which is literally right beside the reception […] desk, separated from the elevators by only a wall, and 5 steps from the main lobby. The amount of traffic and noise that traveled into my room was astounding. The guest staying area should always (and in every other hotel I have ever visited, is in fact) be separated from the common areas of the hotel. Money should be invested in the installment of double glass doors or something of that nature to separate these rooms from the lobby. Or remove 102 from the list all together. I cannot understand why my door opened right onto the employee entrance for the desk and telephone conversations could be heard due to the proximity. Baca selanjutnya

Stay was fabulous and Hotel had everything we required during our stay. Hotel has great views of the lake and great restaurants and amenities within.

Nice hotel, not elegant but comfortable. Grimsby is near some of the Ontario wineries in the Beamsville area, but is far from Niagara on the Lake. There aren't many businesses or activities around the hotel, as Grimsby is very tiny.

We had our daughter's wedding at this hotel in September 2012. Because there were mostly out of town guests, including myself who stayed at the hotel, it made this blessed event even more cozy and friendly. I booked a Mini Suite which was perfect for getting the bride, bridesmaids, and both mothers dressed and ready for the wedding. It became our "Home […] away from home". The hotel only holds one wedding at a time so that they give their sole attention a wedding deserves. As Mother-of-the bride I didn't have to worry about a single detail. The food was delicious & service was impecable. I highly reccomend this hotel if you are looking for a place to host a major event in your life, especially a wedding!!! Baca selanjutnya

The room and facilities were clean and very comfortable but what really stood out for us was the friendliness of the staff from the front desk to the wait staff and cleaners to other employees. We checked in after we attended a nearby wedding.. Found the rooms to be clean and the staff was both helpful and friendly. They helped us with directions to the reception. We needed a one night stay and decided that we had to go back again. It was quiet the night we arrived, but we were still able to get a drink, some food and relax. Breakfast was really good and not expensive (like many chain hotels).

requested non smoking room phoned front desk all they would do is send housekeeping with spray.we did not sleep most of night due to smoke smell in room .also rooms are not soundproof noise from hall is deafening. would not ever stay at this hotel again.

The location is a little out of the way, near the QEW. With a name like Casablanca Winery Inn I tought we would be looking out at vignards and not the QEW. The Inn is clean, appealing to the eyes. the only negative comment was the noise in the hallway at 2 AM when a wedding party was reutrning to their rooms. the doors are paper thin.

One Saturday night stay, good food at the on-site family restaurant with a great Sunday Brunch Buffet. Our King room was clean and comfortable, room was relatively quiet (facing the freeway), a good solid mattress, but upon arrival, we were told that no lake-view rooms were available even though we had reservations including that request three weeks […] in advance. From a distance the hotel looks lovely, but as we arrived at the main entrance, the gardens were completely unattended, were full of weeds, dried out hearbs in wine barrel planters, dead shrubs throughout the front area, and very few flowers or any visible attempt at watering the gardens. There was also a rusted snow plough attachment sitting in plain view by the outside restaurant entrance.... in July! Surely the management staff could do a better job of keeping the place looking cleaner and tidier and less worn out with an occasional watering, better upkeep of the general "wear and tear" of constant usage and a regular walk-around to look after the finer details of what would otherwise be a perfect hotel in the heart of Niagara wine country. Our room was spacious, clean, and romantic--just right. The whirlpool bath in the oversized bathroom was well-used on our short trip. A lovely view of Lake Ontario made our room especially wonderful. It's just too bad that the hotel food (we had dinner in the top floor restaurant and breakfast in the cafe on the main floor) was not even average. The […] eighth floor restaurant was miserable because the air conditioner was broken which should have been our sign to leave, but we stuck it out for the great views. Although it was a Thursday night and very few diners were there, the two waitresses acted as if we all had the entire night to eat. It was the slowest service I have ever experienced--and it wasn't that the waitresses were busy. Most of the time they were just standing at the bar staring off into space. The food was mediocre at best--although it all looked good. My steak was quite tough. The local wine was he best part of the meal and I guess it should be as they bottle it on the premises. Breakfast in the cafe was a bit better and the one waitress handled twice as many customers as the two evening waitresses did. Baca selanjutnya

The only complaint I would have is that during the wedding in the Ballroom the temperature was stifling, many people complained. If it would have been cooler - it would have been perfect.

The quality of the restaurents were exellent. The room itself was disappointing. One of the comforters had a large stain on it and the air in the hallways and room was very stale. The flloor lamp had a broken switch. The furniture was very low quality (the table had a plastic base).

I noticed a lot of poor reviews but don't understand why. Yes, it's an older hotel that could use a renovation in the rooms. But it's kept up well and everyone was friendly. I had read a review from a previous guest saying the hotel was noisy due to it's popularity with weddings. Unfortunately it was exactly where I needed the hotel to be so we hoped it would be quiet. Big mistake!! The loud and often obnoxious behaviour from more than a few drunk wedding quests restricted any sleep til early in the a.m. The hotel itself […] was fine. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The restaurant downstairs needs a facelift as well as a chef that can put some thought and flavour into meals. On checkout we had to wait. Hotel ligt vlak langs de snelweg maar met uitzicht op lake Ontario. Met helder weer kun je in de verte toronto zien liggen. Restaurant op de bovenste verdieping heeft mooi uitzicht maar is wel vrij prijzig.
