"Very elegant"
This place is a step back in time, but with modern amenities. My "room" was actually a suite, included a living room, huge bedroom and bath and entry foyer. A/C works great (absolutely necessary!) Two TVs and nice antique furniture. Wonderful, helpful staff. Awesome breakfast buffet! Hotel situated at water's edge, though there really is no beach. Most […] rooms have water view (mine did not). Some unique sites to see within walking distance (situated in historic zone). Traffic crazy on main roads making it hard to get across - look for controlled x-walks. "Pleasantly Surprised after 50 years"
Just spent 2 nights at the E&O for the 1st time in 50 yrs. The last time, in 1962, I got serious food poisoning eating lobster in their main dining room. This time, it was a dream. Great rooms (all suites), great pool, great service, great location. Have the mango chicken salad as an appetizer or main course. The best salad I've ever had!

Fantastisk havudsigt / bed om værelse med balkon/god udsigt. God og venlig service, roligt hotel uden børn. Gå afstand til de forskellige steder i Georgetown, og gratis shuttle til shopping og strand (taxaer er ret dyre).

"Lovely old-world charm"
The E&O, as it is afectionately called, is one of those world-class stops on one's itinerary. Seaside Penang is charming, the hotel staff and service exemplary and the setting sublime. A most magical Christmas celebration amid festivities in this multi-cultural mecca. Highly recommend!

"Eastern and Oriental in Penang"
Superbly restored colonial style building on the edge of Georgetown`s Chinatown. Service was superb in every respect from being greeted at the door to chambermaid service. Not cheap, but the experience of staying here was an absolute delight. Would happily return there, and recommend it without reservation. Sadly Malaysia has tried to remove evidence […] of much of its colonial past...eg street names, but there are some gems in architecture and monuments that remain, and this is one of them. "A beautifully restored historical hotel."
We stayed here for 6 nights in August 2011. A very beautiful hotel that harks back to the mid 1800's. Terrific sea viewsand enjoyed the ships passing by. Service was impeccible. The breakfast had everything one could wish for, great range of fresh produce and fruit. Chefs on hand for omeletes pancakes etc made fresh to order. Farquars Bar had a great […] atmoshere and meals were outstanding as was the Friday night Seafood Buffet in the main dining area. Walking distance to all Georgetown Landmarks. "Loved it"
The hotel, staff and service were fabulous. Located on the seaside in the colonial district, it was conveniently within short walking distance of china town and little India and on bus routes. If there was one let down it was the quality of food from the bakery - the chicken pie was served at room temperature (major food hazard) and the cornish pasties […] ordered from Sarkies were like lead bullets - the pastry was hard & tough (perhaps microwave reheated) with next to no filling. However, I can happily say that high tea in their "1885" restaurant was exquisite and breakfast in Sarkies was outstanding, thus fully restoring my faith in the food served at the E&O. A truly lovely hotel. If I return to Penang (and I hope I do), I will definitely stay at the E&O. Baca selanjutnya
"Eastern & Oriental Hotel - a luxurious hotel"
We stayed at the E&O Hotel at the end of July 2011 and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful and luxurious throughout. We were greeted by the doorman and escorted through to reception where we were warmly welcomed. As we had to wait a couple of minutes whilst they finalised our reservation they asked us to sit down and served us fruit punch […] and wet towels. The rooms are all suites, very spacious and elegant with solid hardwood floors, a wonderful seating area and old style bathrooms in keeping with the period furnishings. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was just sumptious - so much choice! Butler service was available 24 hours, which we only used to get a different pillow from the pillow menu. The pool was just fantastic, overlooking the ocean. Once you sit down the pool attendant gives you a glass of ice water! We are going back again next year and taking the kids and parents! "E&O Penang, outstanding hotel, great location."
We had a nice room with a fantastic view of the pool and promenade, the hotel location is perfect for exploring Georgetown, with plenty places to eat nearby. Hotel food was great and reasonably priced as far as hotel food goes. Breakfast selection was fantastic! This is a beautiful, stylish hotel with service and standards to match. Staff puts on a similing face, remember the guest names and greet them with their names. Food in the outlet is not so fantastic. Butler service is prompt. Swimming pool is small. Although my window is facing the sea, it has a stench smell once the windows are opened.
Beautiful suite in a classic hotel. Staff were professional and effcient. Enjoyed our stay.

Great historic hotel. View of bay from the pool was great. However, it isn't near a beach & Georgetown is a little run down so don't expect a lot of things to do within walking distance.
"A lovely and memorable stay"
The staffs were friendly and helpful. We were greeted with welcome drink, shown to our room and everything explained in details. Breakfast was included. Food was fine and had a wide variety to choose from. We didn't eat in other than the breakfast as we spent the whole day out of the Hotel, therefore cannot comment further on the quality of food re: […] lunch and dinner. Swimming pool was a bit small but it was well maintained. The pool-side staff was helpful and automatically offered us 2 classes of iced water when he saw us entering the pool area. At the end of the trip, we had to depart at 5:15 am to catch our very early flight. The advanced check-out the night before was hassle-free. Everything was perfectly lined up so that we spent less than 3 min at the front desk counter. The Hotel also prepared our breakfast boxes (with lots of cakes and 2 bottles of mineral water) and we got on our pre-booked taxi on time. "Elegance in Penang"
Beautiful colonial hotel which magnificent pool. The restaurant were eager to please, with a vast choice of food, however the appearance was better than the taste. The rooms and the butler service were very impressive, but the internet services could be improved. Although enjoyable stay.

建物とフロントや廊下に設置されている調度品そのものに歴史を感じるのに十分でした。宿泊した部屋は、海に面した3Fの角部屋で、遊歩道や半島側の眺望があり大満足。ロールパインホテルとスリタンジュンのモールへの連絡バスが利用でき、モールでの買い物と食事に重宝しました。ドライバーでもらったホテル監修のウォーキングマップが大変良くできていて、これを手にジョージタウンの観光名所に回ることができました。

"貫禄のホテルです。"
やはり予想通りの素晴らしいホテルで ちょっとした物を 探そうとすると直ぐに近くに物があるのです。 東南アジア最古？のエレベーターも現存しそれがちゃんと動きます。 朝食も全てがそろってビジターとしても食べに行かなければならないと思うほど美味しかった・・貫禄のホテル。

"格式あるロゴマークに恥じないホテル"
部屋、食事はもちろんの事、期待以上の快適な滞在でした。特に朝食は、各国の料理が美しくプレゼンテーションされ、チーズ＆スパークリンワインで贅沢な気分が味わえます。屋台料理で疲れ気味な胃をリフレッシュしてくれるサラダ。バルサミコドレッシングが「今日も食べるぞ」という気分にさせてくれます。アジアコーナーの塩卵等のトッピングの数々も嬉しかった！フルーツのリクエストにも答えてくれました。 部屋の鍵を一時的に紛失した時の対応も実にスムーズで、フロントに合鍵を預けて戻ってきた時に、きちんとＥ＆Ｏのキーホルダーがついていたのに感激しました。
"meest comfortabele hotel in Penang"
Zeer mooie hotelkamer en vooral ideale badkamer. Service was perfect met zelfs een butler en dit alles voor een prijs waar je in Nederland een gewone doorsnee hotelkamer voor krijgt. Enige nadeel van het hotel was de erg laag afgestelde airco in de bar en restaurants zodat wij ervoor kozen om elders te gaan eten.
