The Rio Cuale divides downtown and the Romantic Zone, an area brimming with bars, restaurants, and shops. Isla Rio Cuale features a river walk and a small museum with pre-Columbian artifacts. Stretching for 16 blocks along the shore, the Malecón boardwalk is lined with bronze sculptures and palm trees. Boats depart from a nearby pier to Yelapa and Los Arcos, favored by divers and snorkelers.

"Didn't live up to its billing!!!!!"
The hotel advertised that the standard room had balconies overviewing the ocean. No standard room had a balcony. They all faced the street. Also, they advertised that the rooms had safes in them. Again this was not the case. They did offer safety deposit boxes off the lobby for no charge. In addition, my room and the other people I was with had sewer […] smell that was impossible to eliminate. The location was the only good thing about it -- centrally located. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. However, if I was travelling alone and didn't care about the balcony, etc. I may stay here again because of the price and location, not because of the hotel. Baca selanjutnya
"Emperador Hotel, Puerta Vallarta Mexico"
The hotel has sub - leased the restaurant space at the beach and there is very little room to enjoy the beach now. The restaurant uses the beach to set-up their dining tables for Lunch and Dinner ( It is the third time we have stayed at this hotel). However, you can use the roof terrace for sun-bathing. Would not recommend the hotel for a family vacation. […] Staff is friendly and helpful. Location wise the place is excellent and everything is in walking distance, the Malacon is a 5 minute walk away. Restaurants, Laundry, Pharmacy and a convenience store located less the a minute from this location. It is a typical tradional Mexican Facility where you are right in the thick of it, in the Romatic Zone. You also must like hard matresses! Baca selanjutnya
"Worth the stay"
Everything was excellent about this hotel from the service, cleanliness, location and bathroom except like in many Mexican hotels, the mattress left a lot to be desired.
"Great Views!"
This is a basic hotel with hard beds and a 19" TV. No internet in the room, available in the hotel lobby. Nice kitchenette I used for cooking breakfast. No in room safe, hotel lobby safe was good. No health club. No pool. Steps from the beach. Always happy to give you a beach towel. Rooms very clean.
"great location and staff"
We stayed 7 nights at Emperador, 2 rooms. Best parts: very helpful staff (Ian is the best! Daniel & Enoch also) & great views onto the beach below. Rooms very clean. Close to everything in Zona Romantica. With surf sound & music from restaurant below we kept our slider closed, but noise not bad at all. Not good parts: inaccurate web descriptions led […] to disappointed expectations. No pool- but you can pay $15 for a day pass at nearby Los Arcos hotel & get in your swim laps & great kids' pool. Mattresses are rock hard. Slight improvement with a 1" foam topper when I complained. This was BIGGEST problem, one new owners need to address to make this a great hotel choice. Elevator had glitches 2 days in a row, then failed completely. Repair took 2 days over the weekend. BUT they moved my elderly dad from his 4th floor room to a 1st floor suite so he didn't have to face the walkup. Again, new owners need better maintenance policy when elevator starts having issues, not wait for a major breakdown. Internet free but in lobby only- Ian uses hotel PC to search for your needs. Lockbox security near lobby. Great singer named Fred in restaurant Si Senor located below. Terrific nearby restaurant choices nearby, especially Cafe de Olla. Overall a very good choice. The hotel was very nice but basic ,the staff was very helpful . We had a great ocean view.The only thing we found that the materss was to hard

This hotel is right on the beach next to where the water taxi takes off for Yelapa and Boca de Tomatlan. Many excellent restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Not fancy and the mattress was hard but it was clean and staff were helpful and friendly.
"For travelers not tourists"
Another (4th) wonderful stay here. Probably our 20th trip to PVR. Close to the best restaurants and art galleries in the city. Warm, friendly, courteous staff. Helpful front desk. Walk for miles on the beautiful beaches or hike in the hills along the river. A little Spanish is appreciated but not mandatory. This is not a chain hotel so I do not recommend […] it for my finicky friends but we love the place and will return next year. Baca selanjutnya
"No Service No Class"
Service people want a tip for everything If you do not tip them they will make your life hell. I am not talking about a reasonable tip. I have traveled to mexico three to four times a year for over 20 years. This hotel rates as the worst. If this is all you can afford, i would advise you to stay at home. There is a limit to what people are willing to […] put up with for an inexpensive place to stay. Respectful service does not cost any hotel chain a dime. "muy buen lugar para vacasionar"
todo me gusto excepto 2 cosas 1: que en la calle de a un lado derecho pusieron baños publicos en la calle y en las mañanas cuando los lavaban hacian mucho ruido y dos la pasada del hotel a la playa por medio del hotel, me hubiera gustado mas que fuera independiente por la otra puerta que existe pero esta cerrada. todo lo demas excelente!

"Good Place to stay on budget"
My one suggestions...add some color to the room and it wouldnt hurt to check mattresses from time to time. By the way, the restaurant downstairs is GREAT
