Gorgeous hotel and beautiful grounds. The room we had was the 2bdrm Suite with ocean front view located on the top floor.......BONUS!!!! The room was pet friendly!!! Having a room that lovely is very rare when you travel with a pet .They had a doggy bed and an adorable "pet gift package" set up on the counter along with a welcome card personalized with […] our name on it. The only thing I was not impressed with was their "winter" menu. Looks like it changes with the seasons Did not find the food that great even with the reviews of it being so wonderful. Very spendy and not any healthy style dishes to choose from. But the ambience in and outside (heat lamps) are worth eating there! We stayed at this hotel hoping to get a little vacation, close to home. It was the perfect weekend, gorgeous weather. We love this hotel and have stayed here many times before. Being locals, we didn't realize there was a special rate and overpaid by purchasing online. There were no options when we booked, and we definitely wanted an ocean front room, […] since we were at the ocean and paid a pretty penny. The room we got was very large and beautiful, however it was a side room facing the side parking lot & restaurant from the neighboring hotel. The balcony was totally glass, even on the side facing the restaurant, so there was no privacy...they could all see into our room and we had to close the blinds...especially at night. On the small balcony, there was a table and two chairs facing the ocean. They were very dirty and three spiders were waiting behind the chairs with large (days old) webs (not Halloween decorations...I hope). I called to see if they could move us to an ocean front room, as requested and they said there were only 2 bedroom rooms and we would have to pay an upgrade fee for those. (even though we paid premium and could have gotten the local rate). Some of our friends bought us fruit and libations for the occasion. The sparkling wine they provided was nice but the fruit was sour and under ripe...hope they didn't charge a lot for that. The room was nice overall. The location of the room was not. All night we would hear glass being dumped indo the waste dumpsters at the hotel next door and people being loud in the parking lot. If you stay here, request to be in the center or left building for sure. Definitely make sure you are not on the right side building on the far right of the hotel...it is just not the peaceful serene stay you pay for! Baca selanjutnya

One of the best resorts ive ever stayed in. Rooms we like condos. With soo many open rooms surprisingly felt rushed to leave due to the prompt 11:59 call...Excellent saltwater pool overlooking the ocean and sidewalkers too unfortunately.

We had a lovely suite and the food at the restaurant was very good. However, I agree with a previous reviewer that it is more a hotel than a resort, and I don't understand why there is a $20 resort fee. The only resort-like amenity is a pool, and $20 seems to be a bit much to use their pool.

So the Dolphin Bay Resort is actually a really nice hotel. We went there based on a friend of a friend's recommendation, who said it was great. Well, we booked the 2-bedroom suite, sort of thinking it was small and Embassy Suites-ish. Don't know why, but they wanted to charge us an extra $244 to have 4 people in the suite instead of 3 people in it. […] Also don't know why we thought it was going to be small, but upon arrival, we were very surprised to enter into a suite that blew us away - this thing was huge and super plush, with granite, marble, nice furnishings, etc...., and super nice view of the pool and ocean! The gals at the front desk are kind of lame, as they didn't communicate anything to the cleaning staff, in spite of our request, after one of our kids got sick and was blowing out both ends at the same time. He thought it was the duck dinner at the hotel's Lido restaurant, but it was just the flu. Speaking of the Lido restaurant, management needs to consider whether they should have a policy of shutting down customers that are too rowdy, drunk, and loud, as one our dinners was entirely unpleasant, as a plump middle aged woman at a table of 7 or so was laughing louder than the entire rest of the restaurant put together, making a heck of a bother to us, and I assume everyone else. I think it'd be better business for the restaurant manager to ask that person to shut up or leave, as opposed to irritating all the rest of the customers, but what do I know? Pismo Beach in general seems like a rundown dumpy beach town, and since I come from one of those already, I don't have much to say about the town. The dunes were fun though; renting a dune buggy and zipping around out there. Don't do this though if you haven't been in the dunes before, as it is a great way to get yourself hurt or killed, and the rental guys give you absolutely no tips on how to stay healthy! This is by far the nicest place we have stayed while in the Pismo area. Staff is great, rooms are in a like NEW condition, safe, heated pool!!! Its simpy AMAZING

We had a good time and the room was nice and comfortable however some things just didn't make sense: 1) The hostess at the Lido Restaurant (4/15/11) seriously needed retraining and didn't seem to understand that we weren't happy with a "bad" table when several others were empty. She didn't want to sympathize or offer explanation either. 2) The Lido […] seriously needs to refuse to reserve those ocean view tables for those that are arriving after sunset. We could have enjoyed for an hour watching the sunset. An hour and ten minutes later the couple that reserved that table sat there while it was dark outside. They aren't using their location. 3) It isn't a resort if there is no poolside beverage service in the afternoon on a sunny day. Seriously! Am I at the Holiday Inn. This is supposed to be a resort. they charged my credit card $500 without my knowledge as a security, i find that to be a lot! I got the money back, but next time warn me. There's a $20 fee to use the pool, and gym. Although if you dont use them, they wont charge you.

From arrival to departure, everything about the resort I enjoyed. The employees were kind and very friendly. The room was large and absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the ocean view room for the night. The shortfalls were the price and the bathroom. I would not come to this hotel and pay full price. Sure it is amazing, but during this economy I would […] rather spend my money else where. Also, I was disappointed with the bathroom. For as grand as the room felt when you walked in, I would have expected there to be a spa tub in the bathroom. Instead there was a regular shower. My husband and I enjoyed our stay over the Memorial Day weekend. The room was spacious and the view was terrific! We enjoyed the pool and resturant and the close proxmity to walk on the beach.

After trying in vain to get a room at a couple of other high end hotels in the Pismo/Avila Beach area for the weekend, we decided to try out the Dolphin Bay Resort. The experience was magical! We were upgraded from an ocean view to an ocean front room and it was so nice that we canceled our reservations at a local steakhouse and had room service for […] dinner. Although the room service menu is sparse, everything we ordered was outstanding. Guess it's better to specialize in a few things than to offer the whole enchalada and be mediocre at it. The room has a nice gas fireplace and a fully stocked kitchen. Turn down service was provided in the evening and a newspaper at the door the next morning - a nice surprise as this was the weekend. The staff was very friendly - from the valets when we arrived to the check out staff when we left and everyone in between. There initially was a problem with the room key and the front desk agent (Janell) reprogrammed the keys and personally accompanied me to the room to make sure they worked - which they did. The room was large but cozy, and the appointments are stylish and classy. We'll definitely stay here again - the whole experience was world class. Baca selanjutnya

This was by far the best place we have ever stayed. The accomodations were beyond great and the staff was extrememly friendly and helpful. Including Avila, at the front desk and Spencer, the young bellman/valet. The only compaint would be the food at the bar, not the bartender, just the appetizers. Also the condo above us must have been where they store […] all their catering events equipment. My husband and two daughters and I stayed at the resort for 4 nights in late August, 2009. Our 1-bedroom (plus sofabed) ocean view suite was very quiet, clean, and well appointed with an excellent kitchen. The daily maid service was thorough, but they apparently forgot every single day that there were 4 of us in the suite and we had to repeatedly request […] extra towels. The pool and hot tub were beautiful and my girls had a great time swimming. My only real complaint is that when we checked out there was an extra "resort fee" charged to my credit card that had not been spelled out (or perhaps was hidden in some fine print) in advance or included in the published rate. It is disingenuous of them to hide it - it should be included in the published room price. I find charges like that that are clearly designed to squeeze patrons for more cash offensive and it left a bad taste in my mouth upon checkout (which wasn't helped by the desk clerk being rather rude when I asked her to explain the charge). Fabulous service, beautiful surroundings...

This is one beautiful hotel and property! The rooms are enormous, decorated with all very high-end furnishings, plasma TV, washer/dryer in room, etc. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

The hotel room was beautiful with attention to details like decorative fans and lighting. The kitchen had all Stainless Steel GE appliances: microwave, fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher. Granite countertops & fully equipped with dishes and cooking tools. There is an Albertsons, Walmart, and Costco 10 minutes from the hotel. The hotel staff knew us by name […] and was professional and courteous. The pool was clean and the perfect temperature. The small fitness center was perfect to do my workouts while my husband worked during the day. We could hear the ocean waves crash on the rocks as we fell asleep at night. Baca selanjutnya

One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. I was a little unsure because I have 3 kids and I was hoping it was kid friendly. There were alot of families with kids and the staff was great with the kids. The pool is fabulous and they a a video library so every night the kids would go down to the lobby and pick a movie. The staff provided them with […] popcorn and hot chocolate which they thought was great. The hotel seems a little pricey but it comes with a kitchen so we ate alot of our meals in. This is a wonderful hotel. It's a diamond in the rough, in an area with lots of 2-3 star "lodges" that don't offer full service or quality rooms. The rooms was outstanding (we wish we had stayed longer). The staff was friendly, the pool was heated, the restaurant was excellent. We will go back.

The rooms were very large and beautifully appointed. When we arrived there was the sound of ocean waves and seagulls playing on the CD player. The kitchen was large and had everything you would need. We had an ocean view room and the view was very nice. The hotel staff was very efficient and very nice. Stayed there while visiting my daughter at Cal Poly Tech. She loved the spacious room so much she spent the weekend at the hotel instead of going back to the dorm.

Located on Shell Beach, about 10 minute drive from SLO and 5 minutes to Santa Maria. Great Location, setting, spacious condo-type units with washer/dryer machine, full kitchen and everything! The greatest surprise was the Lido restaurant in the complex. The food there was top notch! We thought we were spoiled from living in Tokyo, but this place was […] absolutely fantastic. Dolphin Bay served as a one-night-stop for my family and me. But it shouldn't have. It was the best of the hotels we visited in US during our 24 day round trip. Talk about perfection. We'll be back!
