Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour - West End

Old Bahamas Bay resort is out of the way, being 25 miles from Freeport, but the facility is wonderful. The harbor is first class and the hotel is very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Meals at the poolside restaurant, Teasers, were great. I didn't sample the main restaurant, as it was only open for the weekend. This place is the perfect romantic getaway. The staff was super nice and helpful. The rooms were very spacious and beautiful. There was a little mosquito issue but nothing out of the ordinary in the Bahamas. This felt like a strong 4 star hotel. Best way to escape from the stress of the city. We'll definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel. Looks just like the pictures. If you want peace and quite, this is the place to go. The only downside of the vacation was the front desk employee. Upon arrival, we were told to look up the hotel on line if we were interested in staying. This was after I advised that we had reservations. We were not given any information about what amenities […] the hotel offered, as in number of restaurants on the property, internet connection, or what activities were planned for New Years. Finally, we had to listen to the front desk person complain about another employee to a person standing by the front desk. That aside, the rest of the hotel staff was fantastic. This hotel was miles away from everything. The only things we could do there were sit on beach chairs on the beach, sit on beach chairs by the pool, or sit on chairs on the balcony of our room. Some boats did pull into the boat spaces that were provided, but there were no activities at all that could be undertaken at the hotel (even those these had […] been advertised at the hotel's web site#. In the end, we did rent a car for the day #$80 per day, plus gas# and we drove to Freeport for something in the way of entertainment, restaurants, and/or shopping. The transportation from the airport to the hotel, and back to the airport at the end of the stay was $70 each way. The room did have some kitchen things that allowed us to eat food we had bought on our trip from Freeport, but there were no dish cleaning things provided, and there was just one of everything #knife, fork, spoon, bowl, plate) for each person in the room -- in our case, two people. We were leary after reading that is was possibly closing. I called the hotel before i left and they said everyone is calling and that it's just a rumor. Once I arrived I asked my taxi driver and he said something was going on, but that maybe they were going to decide after the election in May for a new prime minister. Overall I felt it was well-run. […] There is only one restaurant now-- it's an outdoor bar, casual place right on the beach. Decent food and great staff. We always bring food and cook some meals, so I never rely totally on the restaurants. Not all rooms have full kitchens, we had to switch to get a full kitchen and even so no pots/pans or sharp knifes but they delivered whatever we needed. The beach is beautiful. Someone said grassy, but that was avoidable. Snorkeling was great-- there is a sunken structure that had lots of neat fish down on the left. This place is for peace and relaxation, or for young families. They had live music on Fri night, lasted until 11pm. We weren't interested in that. As everyone has said, if you want nightlife, don't stay here. Also, don't get grouper. Someone told me a story that sometimes it's replaced with rock fish which is poisonous. I had snapper or conch. There is one pool area, very nice. There are two hammocks on the beach. There are baracuda (small ones) and stingrays, but they are more scared of you. The rooms are beautiful, the bathrooms are spa-like. Our view was spectacular. We will go back. I hope it doesn't close! Baca selanjutnya

This hotel is wonderful if you are looking for a quite get-away. The rooms are very nice and the grounds are well kept. First thing we would recommend is to be sure to rent a car … very secluded resort (which is what we were looking for) but you need to drive into town for shopping, activities. Room- ask for the Ocean Front and you will not be disappointed! Its like having a private stretch of beach at your door. Walking the beach with water shoes is helpful as there were jelly fish washed ashore and some rocky parts at the ends of the beach. Lots of discarded Conch Shells….We actually saw a small octopus and rescued him! Restaurants - there is Tiki Bar on the beach that we didn’t go to. There is another more formal restaurant at the Marina that was very good for dinner. Things to do Snorkeling at Paradise Cove (Dead Man’s Reef) is a must about 8 miles away. They rent snorkel equipment and “belt buddy” flotation, kayaks is also available. In Freeport Port Lucaya Market . Lots of shopping opportunities. Go to Agave for the Bahama Mama’s, Le Med for Lunch Specials. Also try Red Beards (across the harbor on Kings Road) for the best Stone Crab and counch fritters; Count Basie Square in Port Lucaya Market has nightly entertainment; Unexo dolphin and diving center. Taino Beach, Bishops Beach are worth going to. Solomon’s is a great place to by fruit, yogurt, water and light snacks for your room and day trips. Baca selanjutnya

If you are looking for peach and quiet, this is the place. We enjoyed it...just what we were looking for. If you want shopping and nightlife, this is not the place to go.

This was a repeat trip to OBB and it was just as great as before. This place is so relaxing, with friendly staff and overflowing with amazing sea life just off the shore. There is no nickel and diming for kayaks, snorkel gear or hobies - you just walk up and borrow them whenever you want. The fishing is awesome - you can catch baracuda, jacks, snapper […] all just by walking out your door. The bonefish guide was great too, we had a great day out and had luck there too. The rooms are beautiful and well-appointed - great bathroom too. Recommend stopping at a grocery on the way into the resort from the airport to pick up snacks etc. as there is a mini-kitchen in the room and we made use of it. The beach wasn't as cleaned up as it had been in the past which was disappointing, but I think it was because we were there just as the season was starting again. Still a beautiful beach though. The conch fritters are the best! I was disappointed that Aqua (fine dining) closed, but Bonefish Foley's and the Straw Bar provided great meals none-the-less. If we were there more than 4 nights, I would have wanted to head into Freeport for dinner as there really aren't other options nearby. I will say this is not a place for those who desire lots of options night life - there are plenty of other places in the Bahamas for that - this is for those looking to unwind and relax! Siamo stati 5 giorni in questa bella struttura, caratterizzata dallo stile coloniale, ad inizio di giugno, la consiglio vivamente a chi vuole stare in assoluto relax su una spiaggia fantastica con un mare meraviglioso. Ampie e confortevoli le camere, anche se l'arredamento potrebbe essere più moderno, con un bagno molto grande e pulito. Bella la struttura […] sulla spiaggia con bar e ristorantino davvero coccolo, mentre il ristorante per la sera è piuttosto spartano. Il neo principale è la poca varietà nelle pietanze, soprattutto alla sera, mentre il personale è sempre stato super gentile. Ett underbart hotell, eller mer bestämt ett antal villor där du kan få fantastisk havsutsikt. Hotellet ligger väldigt avskilt så vill du shoppa eller ha massa action så är det fel. Men vill du ha avkoppling, god mat, bra service och gillar att snorkla eller segla hobby cat så är det toppen.
