Comfort Inn Times Square South Area - New York

The pictures on the website fool all who book this hotel. The service at the front desk was the only good part out of my whole experience! The first room we had was decent in size but, had many other problems. The door to our room didn't shut, there was a cockroach in our bathroom, and the maid service did not come in and pick up our trash! They only […] made our beds. We then requested a second room and that was easily obtained thanks to the helpful front desk. Our second room was smaller (I didn't know that was possible) and had another multitude of problems. The pillows didn't have pillow cases on them, this wouldn't be a problem except that when we asked that they put pillow cases on them, they just dropped the cases on the bed and made us put them on the pillows. The shower and toilet both made awful noises when used and there was another bug in our room. Again the maids didn't not do anything but, make our beds. The location to everything was great. You are in walking distance to Times Square and various different subway stations but, it is not worth it for me. I would rather stay somewhere where they care about their service rather than stay somewhere that is easy accessible to main attractions. The pictures on the website are false! Yes they do have a free breakfast but, it is terrible. Also, if you don't mind having bass bumping into your room then you can certainly stay here. The walls are paper thin so, you can hear everything that goes on outside the room. There happens to be a sketchy club right next to the hotel that pounds their bass until about 3 in the morning. There is also an increased amount of trash outside of the hotel on the street. In conclusion, the hotel was terrible. The management really needs to re-evaluate their hotel. This hotel is very close to Times Square, which is always a plus. It is a rather small hotel, but the staff are very friendly. I did not get houskeeping during my stay, which is OK with me, but I guess some people may care about that. I would recommend this hotel to people that don't care too much about fanciness.

All you would need in a NY hotel - clean, nothing fancy & close to Times Square. I would stay here again.

The room and breakfast was better than the hotel next door and much more reasonably priced.

The hotel lobby, breakfast room, and our room were quite clean. The staff were courteous and appeared competent. The only downside of our stay was the hotel location, a little way from Times Square. We came back from a play about midnight and the final three block walk to the hotel was a bit intimidating to persons from small-town America. Nothing happened. […] We just felt uncomfortable. We booked a king size bed and got 2 doubles. The room had a strong smell of Chinese or Indian food, The consierge was of no help, in fact he lied, saying we would never get a cab to take us to LGA at 7 PM at night. We walked around the bend ,to the cab stand and got one immediately. My regular mid-town hotel was booked so I figured I'd try the Comfort Inn. Room was small and cramped, but clean. The flat-screen TV looked awful and I couldn't adjust the picture to my liking. The shower curtain did not extend into the tub so I had a huge puddle of water in the bathroom after taking a shower. Breakfast was typical for this type of […] hotel, but it was included. the hotel is 5 min walk from times square, Broadway, Penn station. breakfast area is just too small as well as the lobby

The hotel was a disappointment- too expensive for quality of rooms; concierge service a joke; breakfast included if you could find room in the basement eating area; ...!

Very friendly and efficient staff. Very good security, but the breakfast room and breakfast is a joke. The breakfast room is a glorified store room with not enough room to swing a cat. Just my girls and I (mom) stayed from Monday through Thursday. I was a little worried because the hotel rating on line was 2.5 and we were trying to stay "not below 3". However the customer ratings were higher at 3.5 so I took a chance. Cost was important and this was affordable to us. (+) Staff: Made you feel that you were dealing with a quality […] hotel. Very helpful, friendly and professional. I was relieved when we arrived in our room. (+) Clean with quality bedding and pillows. Those were most important to me. In terms of space - it was a good thing that it was just us girls. Very small. Walking space around beds and that's about it. (+) Bathroom was clean; good water pressure; clean towels and face cloths; hairdryer. (-) They did claim to have free wi-fi which was important to us and our day to day planning. We were unable to access the internet. We tried every night without success. They referred us to their "tech support" who were friendly too but still it never worked. That was our biggest disappointment. (-) Concierge: not so much. Not sure if the lady on the first day spoke English. She just handed us a map. The next lady seemed more qualified but she then didn't have internet access. (+) Location was very convenient. We were just a few blocks from a convenient store, the subway and easy walking distance to Time Square. (+) I felt safe the entire time we were there and the walking that we did because the streets are so busy all the time. Sometimes, you feel you need to keep your eyes straight ahead and keep your game face on but that's to be expected in any big city. (+) Continental Breakfast: for real. (I've been to places that offer this and then throw some packaged muffins on the counter!!) They had fresh waffles, eggs, sausage, bagels, croissants, cereal, fresh fruit, juices, coffee, tea. The room we stayed in had 2 double beds and although the room was not very big it was absolutely clean and looked like it was a new hotel. I would stay there again if I go to NY. The location was excellent, my only complaint was the breakfast room, it couldnt accommodate the people staying there. The staff was helpful, we took advantage of the conseirge daily.

The most outstanding feature of this hotel is the staff. They are very accommodating. We arrived early in the morning and were leaving late the next night. They safely stored our luggage both before and after our respective check in times, allowing us to see Times Square sites hassle free. My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and we had plenty of room. The room was clean and comfortable. Location is GREAT to Times Square and to drop off/pick up spots for the tour buses. I would stay here again.

stayed in clean albeit very small room, beautifully furnished , air conditioned and breakfast included. I have been in NY before and this was the best stay ever. Would reccommend this hotel to anyone also has free wifi!

nice room nice location would go again.Just dont book car service from concierge-driver spoke no english and took an hour to take us to location 6 miles away. then didnt show up for return trip.Luckily wegot a cab backt

This was the worse experience I have ever had in a hotel that charges that much money. The room smelled terrible, the room was the size of a shoe box, the TV was static the whole time. This was absolutely the worse experience I have ever had!!!!

Great location - - - and just a block from the 42nd street subway - - - we had 2 double beds (not a lot of extra room) but who's spending time in the room when you've got 3rd row center orchestra seats for Book of Mormon and all the best pizza in the world to try?

The room was small but nice and clean, the location is excellent if you want to visit the heart of NYC, walking distance to Times Square and 42nd Street , Continental Breakfast included, room was ok for the price and location, staff very friendly

Amazing location. Small rooms had 2 very small double beds in room. Standing room only left. Bathroom door and room door crashed into each other and would get stuck. Did see a bug. Counter staff seemed overwhelmed and understaffed for a holiday weekend. One guy checking in answering phones and retrieving bags. U'll be happy if you just need a place […] to sleep close to action. Convenient location near all the Broadway shows and times square, rooms rather small comparing other comfort inn properties I have stayed in

Checked in for a one night stay. There were no pillow cases and the sheets looked like they were left from three last guests. The clerk said they were short on linen and would have no delivery til next day. We had checked in so late we really couldnt leave. I couldnt sleep all night. How do you run out of linen?

We enjoyed the hotel 's convenience to where we were visiting in N.Y. theater district. We plan on coming back this summer, but as of now do not know exact dates. Larry and Arline Galasso

I must say that it was one of "the worst hotels I have ever stayed at". The room looked like it was bearley touched by your cleaning staff, as well as the bathroom. There was feces in and on the toilet seat, hair in the sink as well as the tub. There where what appeared to be water stains on most of the furniture in the room, like there was some sort […] of flood that accured.
