Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach Resort - Bora Bora

We enjoyed the hotel but especially the friendliness of the staff, beach front bungalow literally 10 steps to their beautiful private white sand beach, beach lounge chairs, free kayaks (amazing snorkeling 20 minutes of paddling from the hotel) and fairly close location to the best beach on the island...Matira Beach.

The staff were great. However, the manager was like a used car salesmen. The hotel was in disrepair. Decking rotting, decking missing screws, the curtain fell of the rod, ripped blind, etc... We will not stay at a Sofitel hotel/resort again.

Bora Bora is gorgeous. The food at the resort was delicious and the Polynesian dinner show was amazing. Wonderful hospitality, fabulous rooms, a pristine beach with turquoise water and excellent snorkelling.

Located in the main island side and can go over to the island side (Sofitel Motu) via a free shuttle. The price is cheaper compared to other resorts, e.g., St. Regis, Four seasons, Intercontinental, but the service is reasonable and enjoyable to stay.

The overwater bungalows are fanatastic here. The private outdoor sunning deck and ocean level swimming entry with fresh water shower is very convenient. Be sure to try and get the outer most bungalows on the property; the privacy is better. Don't miss all the ocean snorkeling...we even saw several stingrays swim by our bungalow.

We stayed there for our honeymoon in March 2012. We were really tired from our extremely long journey as we had to wait an entire night at Papeete airport to wait for our connecting flight to Bora Bora and when we arrived, we had to listen to a long hard sell presentation by Anita. The room was really dissaponting and we had to endure our entire stay […] there with cold showers. We had the local show with dinner one night and the food was terrible. i noticed that lots of table did not even bother with eating their main courses. The manager was busy entertaining himself and his staff and were having meals just beside our tables. This is the first first class hotel that I have been to that the manager and staff is eating and drinking wine just beside the guest tables. I asked for my bill bout 7 times (I counted) and after several promises, I just walked over to the counter and paid my bill. The reception was even worse as they seem annoyed when we try to ask them any questions. The french lady working there was nice and very helpful but the local receptionists need to look at their attitude and realise that they are in the guest related industry and not the other way around. Other staff were very nice like the lady who greeted us at the airport, the guy who carried our bags, etc. I called reception a few times enquiring on how to connect my internet and the voice tone was not "nice" as I got the feeling that I was intruding on her other jobs. We spent 4 nights at Sofitel of Bora Bora and really enjoyed our stay there. The staffs are nice and the management is working hard to make the guests happy. We liked the dinner and dance party night (free!) and it's a very pleasant experience to row the hotel-provided boat on the most beautiful water in the world. We'll definitely go there again.

Chose a overwater Bungalow but... though "on water" it faced the other Bungalows instead of the bay: bad design of the rooms, this is the case for about 2/3 of the Bungalows; allocated a type of room I did not book; extremely expensive for what it offers, they charge the unchargable (example, in a 50 USD burger you still have to ask and pay extra 10 […] USD for the fries; 10 USD for a 5m Boat ride to the small island in front belonging to the same Hotel!); the staff was very pleasant (most all women the "Mommy type") but the "Master of Cerimonies" was a Fellini Movie-type of man, very loud and "populist" in his style, activities belonging more in a Highway 66 Motel than a Honeymoon resort in Bora Bora!!!! I was told that I wasn't able to get a hot shower but a lukewarm shower because of the way the overwater bungalows were designed with solar energy, but when I asked another couple staying on the private island they told me they had hot water all the time in their overwater bungalow. The term "nickel and dimming" came to mind when they charged for Internet […] usage by the hour. I would not suggest breakfast plan because it was the same food every morning and the food quality was extremely poor. The scenery was beautiful until you exit the resort, then you feel the 3rd world country effect. It also didn't help that the resort is next to a local water spot that local kids were swimming and playing extremely loud music from their vehicles. After reading some reviews, we were worried about Sofitel hotel. However, we were overall pretty satisfied with our experience. Initially, we had trouble contacting the hotel for the boat transfer but at the end, it worked out. The rooms were pretty clean and they were good about cleaning our rooms. One weird thing was that they kept running out of […] towels- both bath and beach towels. One major problem we had were the neighboring kids that would come to the resort to play. We don't have any problems with kids but they were loud and playing their music. We didn't go to bora bora to listen to bunch of kids play and the hotel didnt seem to do much about it at all. The food was expensive pretty much everywhere we went Bloody Mary's was over rated. La bounty was very good, especially their pineapple sorbet!!! The water was beautiful and clear. We stayed at the lagoon front bungalows and it was perfect. We had our own access to the lagoon and had coral reef in front so we were able to see lots of fish. Overall, it was a very nice trip. Although the hotel was a little bit of a trek from the main city/port of Vaitape it is a small hotel with GREAT service. I would reccomend staying there. One hint - the lagoon front rooms were just as nice as the over water bungalows, and were even partially over water - for a fraction of the price!

Absolutely breathtaking! The location of the Motu and the over water bungalows, surrounded by a fantastic shallow coral garden with a huge variety of fish, and lagoon water for swimming and snorkeling, makes this resort special. The rooms were well laid out and comfortable (nice to have the bathtub straight back and centered to be able to watch the […] ocean from the bath) in a style fitting the remote location, and the staff were friendly. Every direction provided a view more breathtaking than the last. Kayaks and pirogues for a paddle around the island and lagoon were great activities for exploring the lagoon and getting to the coral reef. Banana leaf chaises on the beaches and hammock were nice touch. The overlook at the top of the motu was beautiful at sunset. We would go back again for the location and beauty of the Motu resort. It's very low key, and unpretentious, which is a big plus. We saw most of the other resorts we had considered when booking from a boat tour around the island, and the views and proximity to the best snorkeling made us glad we had picked the Motu. I definitely would NOT stay in one of the bungalows on the main resort for this hotel, they are not as private and don't have the benefits of the natural beauty of the Motu. However....it was far below expected amenities for this level of resort. For example the mini fridge in the room is empty, no juice, water, and beer available in the room for enjoying on your deck (get it at the market on the mainland yourself). Our fridge was not working when we arrived, and it took a day to get someone to come fix it. Every other small resort of this type I've been to provides a welcome fruit or cheese plate, water, and available beverages in the fridge, and often a bottle of complimentary wine. Nothing here. The evening "turndown" macaroons were nice, though we did not get ours every night. No lunch or dinner is offered on the Motu, you have to take the shuttle boat to the mainland resort. We stayed for nine nights in a lagoon front bungalow on the Marara Beach side of the resort and loved every minute of it. The Room Firstly, our bungalow was mostly overwater - a luxury we weren't expecting given we'd booked a "lagoon front" bungalow. The Hotel The hotel facilities on the Marara Beach side are good - the pool is the infinite variety looking straight out over the lagoon with lots of sunloungers and very handy to the bar. The beach is about 50 metres long and is bordered on the other end by the Novotel. There are free transfers by boat to the private Motu which is stunning - a few small and private beaches, with Bora Bora's best snorkelling an easy swim around the other side of the island. Food Be prepared to pay a lot for food in Bora Bora generally, and the Sofitel is no different. The buffet dinners put on by the hotel are very generous and the staff are friendly. Breakfasts, however are an area that the hotel should work on - the staff at breakfast are generally not welcoming and the food is not replenished regularly. Bora Bora is a wonderful honeymoon destination. Make sure that you book an overwater bungalow for your stay, because traveling this far and just staying in a bungalow on the beach is a definite waste. The aquatic life is unbelievable. A nossa estada no Sofietel ( minha e do meu marido) foi excelente. Já no aeroporto, havia uma funcionária nos esperando para nos levar de lancha até hotel, nos recebeu com colar de flores e nos deu as primeiras orientações. Meia hora depois de navegar pela lagoa, outra moça nos recepcionou no pequeno porto dando as boas vindas e nos oferecendo um coquetel […] de frutas. Logo a seguir o relações públicas se colocou a nossa disposição. Ficamos num bangalô com vista para a lagoa. Muito acolhedor, com um quarto grande e um excelente banheiro, tinha uma bonita decoração, além de um amplo espaço externo om cadeiras preguiçosas onde se podia tomar sol ou descer para banho na água salgada. As toalhas foram trocadas diariamente, o bangalô limpo com todo o conforto, a comida gostosa em porções razoáveis e o atendimento feito, principalmente, por mulheres, bastante eficiente. O hotel oferece gratuitamente, para os hóspedes, equipamento de esportes nautícos e procura organizar programações que visam divulgar os costumes da Polynesia Francesa. Deu para perceber um grande esforço da equipe para agradar ao hóspede. No dia de saída, a mesma moça que nos buscou foi nos levar e nos deu de despedida um colar de conchas. Baca selanjutnya

Mycket dyrt & dålig standard för alla dessa pengar!! Man måste betala extra för transfertransporter om man har baggage?? På hotellet finns allt om man nu väljer att spendera sina pengar där!? Hotellet ligger på hovedøya, men har også bungalower på en motu (liten øy) som man har utsikt til. Hotellets båt mellom hovedøya og motuen er gratis, og den er rask å bestille. Bor man på motuen er man mer isolert og avhengig av båten. For oss passet beliggenheten oss utmerket. Kun 4 min. gange unna er det et par butikker, inkl. matbutikk. Hovedlandsbyen […] på øya ligger 9 km. unna, og hotellet tilbyr busstransport til 900 xpf/ ca, 65 kr. t/r pr pers. Maten og utfluktene på hotellet er dyrt, som alt annet på øya. Middag er buffet med ulike tema hver dag, og koster 5900 xpf per person uten drikke, tilsvarer ca. 460 kr. Man får kuponger med 20 prosent rabatt hvis man er gjest ved hotellet, og det hjelper jo litt. Ønsker man å spise på restauranten på motuen derimot, gjelder ikke rabatten, og de tar et ekstra gebyr på 1500 xpf/ ca. 100 kr. pr pers. Dette til tross for at motuen tilhører hotellet! Frokostbuffeten koster ca. 250 kr. pr pers inkl drkke. Maten er god og presentasjonen er på gourmetnivå. Spiser man alle tre måltidene på hotellet, bruker man fort over 1000 kr. per person per dag. Aktiviter og sightseeing er dyrere enn på f.eks. Moorea, men vannet og øya syntes vi var finere og mer idyllisk på Bora Bora. Vi hadde bungalow med laguneutsikt, og hadde en stor balkong som stod på påler over vannet. På noen steder var rommet slitt, men alt i alt fint. Renhold hver dag, var helt ok. Et par ganger ble ikke gulvet rengjort, og renholderen tok ikke med seg tomflasker, til tross for at vi ba om det. Noe som også trekker veldig ned er transporten fra flyplassen til hotellet. På flyplassen, som ligger på en av motuene ble vi møtt av en representant fra hotellet. Vi ble så transportert med hotellets båt. Det ble aldri opplyst om og hva dette kostet. Da vi skulle sjekke ut, viste det seg at de tok 16000 xpf/ ca. 1100 kr. for båttransporten. Da vi skulle reise fra hotellet, møtte vi opp i god tid til båten, som var forhåndsbestilt av hotellet. L'hotel est tres bien située pres de plusieurs restaurants pour sortir le soir car les diners spectacle de l'hotel sont tres cher pour ce que c'est.. Le cadre est paradisiaque, la plage tres belles, les activités gratuites interessantes. Nous avons sejourné dans un bingalows sur pilotis, le lit etait tres grand, une douche à l'italienne, 2 lavabo, une […] télé LCD, frigo, coffre fort. Le personnel est tres sympatique mais parfois peut reactif aux reclamations. Dans l'ensemble nous gardon un excellent souvenir de cet hotel meme si le Sofitel de Moorea est quand meme mieux. Ayant pu comparer le Sofitel de Moorea à celui de Bora Bora, je peux dire avec certitude que le service global à Moorea était meilleur Certes, sur Bora Bora, nous avons été logés sur un îlot avec vue sur Bora Bora, ce qui donne un caractère incomparable à l'hébergement Les bungalows sur pilotis sont de très bonne qualité. Les autres bungalows souffrent […] de quelques détails (ce qui est dommage pour un tel niveau attendu de prestation) : terrasse moins confortable, chaises extérieures en "décomposition", alimentation en serviettes un peu aléatoire ... Bref en comparaison aux autres hôtels de la même gamme, le rapport qualité/prix reste attractif, et je pense que la différence de prix par rapport aux concurrents réside dans le service du personnel Baca selanjutnya
