Hotel Rocamar is in a quiet location right off the ocean, which meant we had beautiful views from our balcony and the pool area, but the proximity to the ocean also made it very windy (and thus a bit chilly). It was interesting how windy it was right out side of our hotel, but how that wind virtually disappeared once we walked down Hidalgo Ave., and […] got to North Beach. I wish they would supply breakfast, but other than that, Hotel Rocamar is very clean, modern, and easy to get to. It's nice that it's a little removed from the hustle of Hidalgo Ave (the main "drag"), and yet a very quick walk to North Beach (about 10 minutes). It's also really close to the supermarket, which was really convenient, and the location gives you a sense that you're a part of the neighborhood (and not a tourist or resort complex). A few things to note: They do have free wifi, but you can only access it from the main lobby area (there's plenty of seating down there, so no problem). The water pressure is very light, but doable, and you have to let the water run for some time before getting hot water. The service is friendly, and I was especially impressed because we arrived around noon, and they let us check in right away (the usual check in is 3 p.m.) So, all in all, I would definitely recommend Hotel Rocamar! The Rocamar is perched right over the sea and each balcony is large and has privacy walls. The ocean sound is amazing - almost too much sometimes, but you can shut the door. On the sea wall just southeast of downtown it's only a couple short blocks to all the shops, restaurants and night life. Most rooms face the ocean and the view from my 2nd floor room was simply amazing and maybe 30 feet to the crashing waves (no beach). We had an amazing stay at the hotel. The location is very convenient. The view from the room is fantastic. It's quiet, all you can hear is waves. The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom is also spacious and clean. The decor is basic but the view from the balcony makes up for it. Bed was very, very comfortable. Staff is nice. The room was […] cleaned daily. There is wi-fi downstairs where you can watch TV and make a coffee. We managed to catch the wi-fi signal in the room sometime. We liked the vicinity of the church - there was always something going on there. We watched basketball matches a few times next to the church - that was a nice entertainment. I stayed at the Rocomar in Isla Mujeres two nights in Dec 2012. The hotel is nothing special as far as layout, design, or service. But what makes this a very interesting stay are the 'upper rooms' that are right on the rough and noisy and windy Atlantic Ocean. From your room, as you look through the huge window/balcony opening, you will feel as if you […] and your bed are a part of the sea itself. At day the scene is lovely; at night you will either love it or want to close the balcony door, shut the curtains, and put in earplugs. I enjoyed the experience of 'living in the sea' the first night, but the second night I did need a respite from the incessant waves crashing at the shore and the wind. But I think everyone should experience this at least once. So ask for the second or third floor rooms that overlook the sea. It will be something to remember. Baca selanjutnya

We stayed at the Rocamar in January 2012 as well; it is exceptionally clean, we love the view of the ocean from our balcony, the beds are comfortable, the pool is clean....it is all that we need!

The staff was very helpful. Room was always clean. King bed was comfortable. Two to three blocks from restaurant, grocery stores, shops, etc. Had a great view of the waves. Swimming pool was clean. We have nothing negative to say about our stay at Roca Mar.

Right by the centro, two blocks to Hidalgo st, the pedestrian way with lots of restaurants and shopping. Hammock on balcony overlooking the ocean, which is also visible through glass wall and expansive sliding glass door on ocean side. A/C worked well, as did small fridge in room. Bed was comfortable and room was extremely clean with service every day. […] Curiously minimalist decor, but not unpleasant. Safe in room but we felt very safe at all times. Microwave and tv, along with free wireless Internet and pure water available in covered outdoor lobby area that was just outside our room. No tv, microwave, Internet, or alam clock inside the room, not a problem for us. Two blocks to a supermarket with all basic needs. Not all staff speaks English, remember you are in a Spanish speaking country and try to speak a bit of their language, or hav a dictionary handy. Gr8 view of the Atlantic ocean. Room right next to the ocean...could hear the ocean whole night. Looked like new construction. No elevators though...its only 3 levels. No TV or phone either but were not missed at all. Nice clean and comfortable room. Very relaxing to the sounds of the ocean. Walking distance (3 mini blocks) from the ferry dock. Also […] close to local shopping and eateries. No need to rent a car. Rental of a golf cart for 2-3 hours is enough to drive around and get a hang of local flavors. Very much recommended. Right off the town square and right on the ocean, what an idyllic experience. We could walk the two short blocks from the ferry to this hotel and like wise walk to the famed North Beach and any shops or restaurants we wished to visit.. Location was excellent, room was very clean and modern. Staff was less than helpful in navigating local help/orientation. Wireless only works in the common area. The pool was pretty dirty with big hair clumps floating around so I stayed away. Can't beat the view.

Roca Mar was wonderful for us. It sits off by itself in one corner of downtown, so you have your own private guest house, and it's a short walk anywhere downtown. The swimming beach is five or six blocks away, but we like to walk, and you can walk along the beachfront or through town; either way interesting. The oceanfront rooms are right on the waterfront, […] so you can see and hear the waves crashing right outside the room (and there's a small patio on the ocean side). There's even a glass bathroom so you can take a shower while watching surf. The hotel was recently renovated, so is clean. Everything works. There are a lot of outlets. Hotel was clean, lots of available drinking water and coffee in outdoor lobby. Free internet also in lobby. Staff friendly but scarce. I have already described the negatives in the question 'was everything as you expected?' I just felt it was overpriced for what we got, since we had to pay extra not to be in the basement.

Hotel Review: Wonderful breeze and sound of ocean waves on a rocky shore. I couldn't help but doze off when lying on the balcony's hammock. AC & hot water worked fine & were included in the per night price for room 17 (middle floor in middle of the building). The lower two floors (below ours... there is one above middle floor) may have privacy issues […] as there is an 8' wide public walkway between the shore & the hotel (not used by many). The lowest floor is actually eye level with the walkway, separated by a balcony wall. The hotel appears to undergo seasonal exterior renos regularly in the fall. While we were there they were rebuilding seaside courtyard walls. It was a little noisy after 9 Am, but not too bad. Room furnishings are a nice king sized mattress on a frame, balcony hammock, 2 plastic deck chairs, wall mount desk, built in clothes closet with drawers & free safe with lock. No TV, poor WiFi. The pool has a wonderful ocean view, but is pretty basic and not quite as serene as depicted in some pics due to paint weathering and the walkway. We did not note the presence of the large telecom antenna some have said is on the roof. It may have been moved.... I didn't take note of it being an issue until after we'd left & it is in none of our pics. There are fresh drinking water dispensers, however 2 out of 3 days the 18 L bottles were empty. Staff were at the desk wnen the bell was rung, but otherwise seemed occuppied in the office. The cleaning staff did a good job. Baca selanjutnya

Discovered this architecturally 'funky' hotel hanging right over the crashing Caribbean while out walking the malecon on an earlier trip to Isla Mujeres. Vowed to myself I would stay here next time. So, two years later, I spent ten nights at the Roca Mar in mid-to late November 2010. Wow, what a view! Unobstructed windward vista of turquoise and aquamarine […] Caribbean with surf relentlessly crashing onto rocks just beyond your balcony. View the island from one end to the other in a glance. Watch the frigate birds and brown pelicans soar and dive for fish. See cruise ships from Cozumel slowly pass at night far off-shore; A constant warm gentle breeze from open sea with soothing sound of breaking waves. Modern comfortable room on third floor in excellent condition. Queen bed comfy as was the hammock you can string out on the balcony. No television or telepho:00ne. Room kept spot-lessly clean with bed made daily and fresh linen /towels supplied each day by friendly and dedicated cleaning staff. Tiled bathroom with shower only super clean and sundry items provided. Water pressure in shower and sink was extremely weak and flow a trickle. It took five minutes for hot water to arrive. Water 'hard.' Nightwatchman / security guard on premises all night. During my visit they installed a new layer of concrete on the roof! So there was construction noise and dust from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They were also chipping-away loose cement to patch and re-paint. Baca selanjutnya

The cheapest room Expedia offers does NOT come with A/C and they will ask you to pay a significant amount extra when you get there to upgrade rooms. Trust me, the hot little rooms are unlivable in the humid summer without A/C. The staff was not very friendly and asked us to move rooms 3 times during our 4 night stay to accomodate other guests which […] was ridiculous. Unfortunate time with the A/C issue and rude staff but the hotel was otherwise in a great location right on the waves. A public sidewalk runs along the shore between the balconies and the water so you do not have much privacy when you are lounging on your balcony. Hotel Roca Mar is in a great location.Located just a short walk from the Cancun Ferry on the east side of the Isla. The room was very clean and there is an in room safe to store all of your valuables. The bed was very comfortable and the view from the room was gorgeous. Very convenient hotel. You need to add the ac option when you check in. ($10 more). Hurricane Alex messed up the whale shark trip but everything else was great. Taco concession down the hill in the ice cream shop made the best tacos. Chili Locos also had great food.

I really enjoyed this hotel as the room had a balcony with a hammock where I could lay and watch the ocean. That was the best thing about the hotel. The staff was very friendly. My only complaint was the swimming pool. It had green algae growing on the sides. The staff told me they cleaned the pool and put chemicals in it but it didn't appear to be […] true. Rent och fint hotell, nära till centrum och 10 min gång till playa norte beach som är riktigt fin! Härlig havsutsikt från rummet/balkongen, kan dock blåsa ganska mycket på balkongen. Litet minus är att det inte är wifi på rummen utan bara i lobbyn

einfach, schlicht und unkompliziert; sicherlich nicht für alle Touristen geeignet (kein Frühstück oder sonstige Verpflegung, einfachste Möbel, sanitäre Anlagen am Zimmer - wenig Luxus und keine Schnörksel, nur eine saubere, einfache Unterkunft, direkt am Strand. Alle Zimmer mit Meerblick, jedoch nicht geeignet zum Baden (Brandung!). Der Pool ist sehr […] klein und wird kaum benutzt. Öffentlicher Strand ist ca. 10-20 Gehminuten, je nach Strandabschnitt entfernt. Für viele westliche Touristen und vor allem Pauschaltouristen ist diese Unterkunft sicherlich zu einfach und wahrscheinlich enttäuschend (Hotelstandard, Verpflegung und zu kleiner Pool). Für die anderen bleibt ein äußerst faires Angebot mit hervorragendem Meerblick, abseits der großen ALL Inklusive Clubs und dem großen Treiben auf Cancun, obwohl sich die Insel in den letzten 13 Jahren bereits gehörig verändert hat (Aufenthalte 1997, 2001 und nun 2010). All'arrivo, siamo quindi stati costretti a pagare un sovraprezzo per un'altra stanza (In estate è impossibile persare di non averla!)! Posizione comoda per chi arriva con i traghetti Ultramar.
