The White Horse Hotel & Brasserie - Romsey

Only stayed for one night- nice hotel shame about the scaffolding works going on, and the mix up with hotels.com about the booking and trying to charge us twice at two different rates- was all sorted in the end staff were really helpful and friendly. Hotel itself is lovely and full of character would stay there again if passing through.

We've known the White Horse since living in Romsey 23 years ago, and have stayed there three times since. It is a comfy old hotel which has been continually upgraded without losing its charm. So much nicer than the usual cookie-cutter modern ones. We ate dinner in the brasserie, and it was excellent and well priced. We have only a few minor gripes. […] Our room, in the Coach House, was long and narrow, so there was only an 18 inch gap between the end of the bed and the wall, making it difficult to get from one end of the room to the other. Also the hairdryer and towel warmer were not working, but were fixed as soon as we reported the problems. Finally, the parking is a bit inconvenient. One has to park in a public, pay-and-display carpark a short walk from the hotel. Fortunately, this inconvenience is mitigated by the fact that the parking is free overnight, and any ticket bought in the evening is timed starting from 8:30 the following morning. Good value, nicely refurbished, excellent breakfast, convenient location for a number of interesting sites from cathedrals, stately homes, beautiful countryside and riverside walks.

We stayed here overnight for a family get together. Romsey is a small town and the hotel is well located. Disapointed there is not a car park so we had to be up and dressed before 8.30am next day to put a ticket on our car parked in the local car park. Due to this we didnt stay at the hotel for breakfast as we were dressed it seemed pointless to go […] back to the hotel and a holiday sleep in was out of the question. The hotel would benefit by providing a bar snack other to their dinner restaurant meal Because we had high tea we only needed a snack perhaps a salad would be surfice. A charming hotel in a charming village. They have maintained much of the original structure, the bar and lounge are cozy and friendly. We had our Christmas Day lunch there and the restaurant food is excellent. Walk outside the door and you are smack in the center of the charming town of Romsey.

Felt comfortable and at ease the moment we checked into to this very old, centrally located hotel which had been sympathetically modernised. An excellent weekend break venue. No car parking but quickly adjusted to using a nearby public car park.

Such a lovely place to stay. No criticisms. Full of praise for the place. Had a lovely time. Room comfortable. All clean. Lots of attention to detail. Staff warm & friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend.

Historic coaching house has been modernised to provide excellent facilities, but lacks the old world charm of an old inn.

A very good town centre Hotel where Old World charm successfully mixes with contemporary. Our room had wooden beams and sloping floor with a large modern bathroom. We dined in the modern well decorated restaurant. The food and service were very good. Prices towards high but reasonable with regard to quality. We did not take breakfast at £14. I was really impressed with the age, decor and ambience, comfort and amenities of the hotel. Staff were unfailingly obliging. The food was delicious and nicely presented and tray charges are very reasonable. The location was pleasant, right in the market square and close to an ancient abbey. The surrounding Hampshire countryside is delightful.

The restaurant is glam and the food delicious. Staff in the restaurant are very informed and make you feel special. Menu comprised of nice selection of seafood and grills with nice gourmet touches. Or traditional English tea if you like. The rooms in the old part of the hotel are nice and quirky. Ours had a staircase down to a large shower room. The […] front desk staff could have been a little more informed about excursions and amenities. Hotel cigar bar ran out of cigars but still have the menus for them out which made my boyfriend want one to his disappointment, but all round very happy. p.s. We were passing through and delighted to find Romsey and the White Horse. The room was comfortable, nicely decorated and appointed. We enjoyed walking the town, and I recommend a visit to the Abbey.

our stay was very nice the beds were comfortable and had a good night sleep. our littlen decided to play hind and seek under the bed and when she came out her hair was full of dust balls, this is the only thing suprising about the room everything else was clean and room service was quick too! thanks

Excellent hotel - however be careful where you park - they have markets on the Market Square - I came back to find my car as part of a stall. They were very nice and helped me out of the stall :-)

Lovely Hotel in a very pretty location. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was very good. Could highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in that location. Lots to see in the area.

Our two night stay was comfortable and pleasant. The standard double room was a reasonable size with a large shower. The public rooms were attractive and welcoming and the continental breakfast is good quality and value. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. On our trip in UK we found Romsey and this hotel. The hotel is situated in very middle of Romsey ( a charming and lovely litte town). I have nothing to say accept PERFECT! Sehr gut. Bei drei Tagen hatten wir drei Mal kein heisses / warmes Wasser, da der Boiler (seit zwei Wochen) spuckte!!! In einem solchen Fall erwarte ich vom Personal, dass es automatisch drei oder vier Mal im Tag die Situation überprüft, wenn nicht sofort der Klempner gerufen werden sollte!!

freundliche hilfsbereite MitarbeiterInnen wer lieber Kaffee, statt Tee trinkt, sollte in das Café, gleich gegenüber, gehen es gibt genügend gemütliche Bereiche im Hotel

No real complaints. The room was nice, clean and comfortable, and the hotel is right in the centre of the town. The strength of the wifi could be better as my collegues who stayed a floor up barely had a connection.
