Royal International Hotel - Shanghai

It was a perfect stay, if you want a good western style hotel close to Pudong International Airport. 50 rmd for taxi from airport to Hotel.

Very nice place to stay. The rooms are downright luxurious, and the whole place was nearly spotlessly clean. The gym isn't much to write home about, and the food in the restaurant wasn't great. That's a bummer, since the area around the hotel doesn't seem to have much to offer. The staff spoke very little English, but we managed to get by just fine. […] I would definitely stay there again. I choose the Royal International for our last stop before we flew home from Shanghai airport. The hotel itself is first class in every way. The rooms are well equipted and very modern. Lovely pool and good breakfast. Perfect to prepare for your long flight home. Only 15 minutes from Pudong airport but give the taxi driver written directions in Chinise […] as they have difficulty finding this hotel. The surroundings are of no interest and not suitable for sightseeing downtown Shanghai- too far. For what i wanted the Royal International was perfect. I would thoughly recomend this hotel. Friendly staff trying to do everything to make your stay better. GREAT VALUE. Be sure to have address ready for taxi starter and driver.. Not always easy to find. Have hotel phone number and have driver call hotel for directions if needed.

After getting off the long flight from the US, I was hoping that the hotel I booked would at least offer a comfortable bed. The Royal International Hotel not only provided a comfortable bed, but a relaxing soaking tub and spacious stand up shower. As a first time visitor to China, I didn't know what to expect. This Hotel was the best of all Hotels we were staying in the 3 months, that we were in Shanghai. We have had more than 6 different Hotels in that time. Food in the restaurant was very good and the breakfast was great. Only one thing, that is missing from every Hotel on the breakfast table, is the water. Every juices have sugar or something sweet. The hotel was outstanding, utter luxury. Flat screen TV in bedroom and bathroom, gorgeous spaceous layout of room and bathroom. It's about 20 mins from the airport and the hotel does lay on transport but only hourly. The neighbourhood looks rough and not welcoming for the inquiring tourist. We stayed at this hotel twice, which is is located about 15 minutes from the Shanghai Pudong Airport, and the hotel offers a free shuttle to the airport which can be reserved at the front desk at check-in. Cab fare from airport to hotel is about 55 to 60 RMB. The hotel is reasonably priced for a five star rating. Staff are friendly and helpful. There […] are 3 restaurants in the hotel and the buffet in the western restaurant is not bad. There is a mini-mart across the street from the hotel for snacks, drinks and other supplies. Our only problem is there is only heat in the Winter and the room gets quite hot with the heat on. The room will cool off with the heat off but gets a bit stuffy. The hotel staff were helpful but could not resolve this problem. If you are visiting Shanghai's Bund area, this hotel is at least 45 mins to an hour from downtown, depending from traffic. Shanghai traffic can be terrible at rush hour. There is a subway station nearby, Black cab fare is about 10 RM to subway station. Subway fare is 8 RMB to downtown and takes about an hour's ride. great hotel, located in sub-urban area. good choice to stay if you are going to pudong airport.

We arrived exhausted by our flight from the US. The wonderful bathtub was a welcome sight. We were refreshed by a great night's sleep in the comfortable bed and enjoyed the buffet breakfast. We stayed a 2nd night. It was a great place to get over jet lag.

While a little out of the way, this is an excellent place to stay waiting for a flight out of PVD. I had great luck with the staff who were English speaking and the shuttle service to the airport was excellent! The food also was excellent! Other than the location which was a little out of the way, this was an excellent place to stay!

I stayed in 4 hotels, and this one was by far the best.

Very convenience to get to Pudong airport, if you are stay over night for catch flight this hotel is good but if you are visiting Shanghai this hotel is too far aways from Shanghai center.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the metro station WITHOUT LUGGAGE. We took a taxi to the hotel with our luggage (less than $3 US) and were glad we did. The sidewalks, when there were some, were not conducive to pulling luggage. After settling in to our room, which was very nice, we walked back to the metro station to take the train in to Shanghai […] (about a 30 minute ride to the Bund area). If you are aware the hotel is NOT close to the city, it is great. The shuttle to airport is free and we got to the airport in plenty of time for our flight. Baca selanjutnya

The service at reception, check in and room service were wonderful. Staff were very friendly. Close to Pudong airport. Very convenient for transit passengers.

excellent hotel to stay if you want someplace near airport.

A return visit to this excellent hotel. Beautiful room, well maintained. I was very late checking-in but no problem with the reservation. They claimed I would have to pay extra for breakfast but I pointed out the booking confirmation stated it was included. However it became irrelevant as I had breakfast at the airport with a colleague, so never got […] to the bottom of it. This hotel can be tricky to find as taxis don't know it, but my colleague drove me and located it without problem. Worth persevering. Pity they would not offer my colleague accommodation at the on-line rate (or close-to), so he went to a 'Home Inn' 1k away at a fraction of the price, and the hotel lost the income from a room sale. Beautiful building but far from the airport and in fifth-world surroundings. As always, no one speaks english so everything becomes a BIG problem. Not a good choice for just a brief overnight stay when changing flights. Bring directions in chinese for taxi driver.

Taxi drivers could not find hotel. It was NOT conveniently connected to airport. It was over 20 minutes from airport. I would never stay there again.

The Royal International Hotel was a great place to stay. There was a hotel shuttle to the airport but it only left the hotel every 2 hours. The airport is about a 20 minute drive away but other than that there is nothing to do in the surrounding neighborhood.

The hotel is brilliant with excellent interiors. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is really helpful. Had an excellent stay at the hotel

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. I am being less impressed each time. For an American doing business in China, it is not very western friendly. I believe they are best suited to servicing the Asian customer base. Language is a problem and I believe the service could be improved. I have stayed at many hotels nearby PVG for many years....This by far is the best!

I chose this hotel because i had an early morning flight and it was close to the airport. It is difficult to get to and from Shanghai city center especially after 9pm. The Metro does not run out to the hotel after 9. I found out the hard way. The hotel is great. The room was a nice size and very comfortable. The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were awesome!! The bathrooms were great and the bed was very, very comfortable! Just the surrounding area was a little disturbing.

Hotel was beautiful and clean. Our room was quite nice, comfortable king sized bed, attractively furnished, no smoking or any other odors, good air conditioning. Staff was helpful. Only complaint was that I was not able to get accurate information about shuttle to/from airport in advance. We went to the hotels counter at the airport to inquire about […] the shuttle and were told that the hotel didn't have a complimentary shuttle and since we were traveling with a lot of luggage, we would need 2 regular taxis or one van to get to the hotel. We paid $40 US for ride to hotel after negotiating from a starting rate of $60, only to find out there is shuttle service. So know in advance that the help desk at the airport is there to help themselves. We did not purchase a meal plan with our room, but we did eat at the Friday night buffet. This is a newer hotel, nicely appointed, comfortable, clean and well kept. Staff is very friendly, but unlike some reviewers, I didn't find their English to be as good as at many other "Western" hotels. Limited English language TV stations, and the burger I ordered from room service was fair. The neighborhood is not as bad as some reviews suggest. […] It looks a little rough, but it is really a typical Chinese commercial district. This hotel is not as convenient to Pudong airport as some others, but it is easily a notch to two above those that are closer. It's a good place to stay to catch the flight.

We moved to this hotel for the night before an early flight. We were very satisfied with the hotel. The room was well appointed and comfortable. All the staff were very pleasant and good at their jobs. Room service was efficient and the food was good. We would definitely choose to use the hotel again.

Hotel is a short cab ride from airport and not far from the metro line (although it takes over an hour to get downtown on the metro). Very nice, very comfortable hotel. Modern rooms with nice amenities. Comfortable beds, soaking tubs, rainfall showers. I highly recommend as a hotel convenient to airport.

This brand new hotel is one of the closest to the Pudong airport. The rooms are wonderful - one of the best I've been in. (AC was not working correctly, though, but they were very responsive in trying to help.) Taxi or car ride should cost around 75 RMB (11 USD) from the Pudong airport. Don't give in to the people pressuring you to take a car service. […] The taxi stand is manned by English-speaking attendants and you'll get a much better rate. Hotel location hard to find if not using airport shuttle, but is not far from airport. Service and comfort of hotel is excellent. Coul add more cardio equipment of fitness room, such as ellyptical machine. Enjoyed my stay. Would definitely be good hotel to be close to Pudong airport

The Royal International is a four Star Hotel. The service provide by Rex the Manager, Daniel, Front Desk and GiGi in the Lobby Bar was excellent. Rex went out of is way to contact a Taxi company would over charged me and obtain a refund for me. I thought that was a very kind and great customer service. I don't usually write reviews of Chinese hotels, or at least not good ones, but this deserves a big thumbs up. Very nice hotel, very friendly staff, very nice room, very comfortable, very good food at breakfast. Excellent location, 10 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from the middle of the city. Perfect location in a neighborhood, so the adventurous […] can go out for a walk, but not in the middle of the hustle of Shanghai. I will definitely be back and have already recommended this hotel to other travelers. A real find and a great price. No language problems at this hotel, everyone was extremely helpful. Very nice hotel and convenient to Pu Dong airport, 10 minutes by hotel van. Room was excellent, food was excellent, service at the main restaurant was average. I could net get an iron or ironing board upon request. The hotel only had 2!

THis hotel is located over an hour from "downtown" Shanghai. It is a 15 minute walk to the nearest metro, then 45 minutes on the train. By taxi, it could take longer depending on traffic. Once you are i the hotel, however, it is generally first class with complete marble baths, freestanding tubs, bath TV, remote controlled drapes, small but excellent […] gym, and great lap pool. Probably the best hotel I have stayed in in China; rooms are fantastic. Western food available, and very good quality. Don't stay here for visiting Shanghai city, as this hotel is far from there. As an airport hotel, it is ideal, only 15 minutes from Pudong airport (take care as Shanghai has 2 airports on different sides of the city.) Shuttle bus doesn't […] start till 8,00am but a tax ride was only around 60Rmb. Be sure to check which airport terminal your flight departs from. All in all, it was excellent value Baca selanjutnya

I highly recomend this hotel! the lobby was not attractive, little disappointed, but the room is great! we stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed the hotel, there is free internet, service is good, room is good size and very clean....! we are very satisfied with the hotel especially compared to the other hotels in this trip.
