All of the staff were so lovely, really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, without being overbearing. I was initially a bit worried when I arrived as the bar was busy with loud music but it was turned off by about 11. The cost was very reasonable too but I would say the staff made it for me.

Short Stay
One night stay on a golf trip. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Ate there in the evening - very good standard. Breakfast was very good as well. Stayed in a single room which was fine for 1 night but it was “compact”. However the price was very reasonable and excellent value for money.

Great staff, food & location, terrible mattresses
Mixed feelings about this traditional country hotel. Staff were amazing, friendly and efficient. Dinner was great, good quality, good menu. Breakfast that was included in the rate was generous, well cooked and reasonable quality for price. The rooms though!!!!!....very clean with spotless linen but are in need of some updating. Dingy, no pictures, no plug beside bed to charge phone, cold water tap on sink didn't work until suddenly came gushing out late morning, mirror light on the blink, couldn't get TV to work....but worst of all mattresses are terrible, soft and springey, terrible sleep. A few minor upgrades are all that are needed

We were only staying the one night at Hogmanay. As this was a national holiday no cooked breakfast was available which was understandable due to staff on holiday. The room was clean and comfortable unfortunately it was up three flights of stairs (no lifts). Overall althoigh a short stay i would recommend the hotel.

Our original booking had been cancelled due to Covid so we were in a bit of a last minute pickle. However, was pleased that the Buchan could accommodate us just a few days before a family get together. Staff very pleasant and food was good maybe a tad slow on occasions however...you can't have everything. My only criticism was I ordered a beef sandwich. Given that the meat was on the rack so to speak.... I had expected a hot beef sandwich... it was cold. Not ideal but all in all would still eat there and of course stay there again. Just next time...if someone orders a hot beef sandwich....it should be just that. Good luck and keep up the good work.:)
