Unique stay with a very family feel. Owners were very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again

8/10 Very good

Very good hostel-like hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms and amenities are nice, bathrooms are individual but across the hallway. Noise travels very easily between rooms. Simple breakfast with self-made options available.

Stayed here when in the city for a concert. It was a quick uber ride to PPG Paint Arena. This place is absolutely adorable! So much better than a stay in a chain spot. The owners were very friendly and eager to chat with their guests. The building is very cool and has a great vibe. I would definitely stay here again!

Couldn't be happier

We had a wonderful time at travelers rest! Paul was great, the atmosphere was low key and we felt welcomed. There were some really cool systems they had set up to be ecological and to provide ease and freedom to their guest. It was great!
Ryan, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

The self check-in was very well organized and convenient. The breakfast in the common space was excellent. Beds were comfortable and spaces were clean. We really enjoyed the unique aesthetic of the building and rooms! We walked back from downtown area at night and would just caution to use the 10th bridge at night because the surrounding area is not very populated.

We loved our time at the Traveler's Rest! Super-cute b&b! Seamless keyless entry, gorgeous private bathrooms with cool industrial touches, cozy comfy beds, and the owners are so sweet. We can't wait to come back!

Just don’t stay here, very sketchy

Small, sketchy area, no parking lot. Tons of winding stairs, a maze to go through. No bathroom in the room. No air conditioning.

Hostel Newbies

Our stay was just fine, but it started out a bit rocky. I never received an email from Hotels.com with our check-in instructions and door code. When we arrived, checked again for the email while it was pouring down rain. Luckily, we found a phone number of the hostel and talked with owner that walked us through getting in the front door. Once in, we found the hostel very charming. We were surprised by the small room and lack of TV. Our own private bathroom was across the hall. But the code to get in the bathroom is the same code as the front door. And since we didn’t get the email from Hotels.com, we had to contact the owner again to get the code. The next morning, we were able to meet and talk with the owners, who were very friendly and told us all about the history of the building.

6/10 Good

The place was great, the service was great too but needs a little improvement. The bathroom was not in the room, so was not comfortable for a family of four to have to use the code all the time. The air did not work .

Pascal, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

I liked that it was different from the usual hotel chains. The unique historical architecture was interesting, but the hotel was updated and had all the amenities that met our needs, including our private bath that was down the hall. The free street parking was a plus! The location was great, short distances to sites of interest near downtown. Good restaurants within walking distance. Beds were comfortable. There was plenty of variety and healthy choices for our self service breakfasts. You can hear people walk and talk in the hallway at night, but it didn't disturb my sleep. I would definitely stay here again.

Very unique place with great charm. The host was wonderful. Really enjoyed the historical environment.

Lovely little spot with friendly staff and very streamlined check in. Personable, hostel vibes with a high end finish and privacy.
Cassandra, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

This is a hostel, not a hotel. Bathroom, although solely ours, was down the hall. Room was very sparse, no thermostat, mirror, tv or, as stated, bathroom. Bath was clean, but soap and shampoo was provided in a common area via little self service cups. Area totally industrial, half mile from edge of South Side strip.

Loved Traveler’s Rest

Our stay at Traveler’s Rest was exceptional. The hotel boasts a distinctive charm, offering a unique and memorable experience. A complimentary breakfast was provided each morning in the common area, adding to the convenience of our stay. Its prime location allowed for easy access to numerous restaurants and bars within walking distance, while most major attractions were just a 10- to 15-minute drive away. I would stay here again in the future.

Great stay in Pittsburgh.

Beautiful “boutique” hotel, in a wonderfully reconditioned 1800’s building. Exceptionally friendly and helpful service, and a location that puts you a quick drive (or hearty walk) away from Pittsburgh’s downtown entertainment district. Highly recommended!
