Older but decent.
It is an older resort that caters mainly to golfers. The only problem we had is that we reserved a room with 2 Queen beds and received a room with 2 Full beds due to the no available rooms with Queen beds and we weren't informed until after our stay the reason for the change. Other than that the location is nice.

I needed a place where I could spend a long weekend in solitude, enjoying the nature and a good book. This was just the ticket. I arrived around 7p. Was given my key and some suggestions (in answer to my questions for visiting Lurray Caverns and the Battlefield). I felt right at home in the cozy rm256 overlooking the golfcourse and the Blue Ridge Mountains. A quaint balcony with chairs and table were the best addition to enjoy coffee in the morning. People are friendly and they leave you to yourself. This was the best long weekend in a while. I cannot wait to return.

The property is not as shown in the website photos. It’s an outdated motel and the two story building in the pictures is the golf clubhouse and office. The room we were assigned was on the second floor of the “newer” building facing the golf course and mountains. The view was nice, but the stairs to the second floor were metal fire escape steps. The carpet in the room was stained from some sort of water event (on the second floor????) and there was water damage on the bottoms of the wood furniture. There were tears and holes in the sheets visible from just standing next to the bed. The TV base was broken so the TV leaned to the side and rested on the cable box. The night stand still had the sticky ring left by a previous guest’s soda or water bottle. And the desk chair had a disgusting white stain on it - that was the final straw for me. We went to the office and asked for our money back and left. The ladies in the office were very nice - the nicest thing about the place honestly. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Historical Place But Not Politically Correct!
When I booked two rooms for my family for $97.00 plus city taxes, I was impressed with the historical Building that was pictured on the web. Was bit disappointed when we were sent to a motel like place. I could booked a 3 or 4 star hotel for the same price. No doubt their check in/out was great, friendly and courteous staff. Next time I will choose 3 plus star hotels like I used too! No go by the picture...

Just what we needed.
The rooms are basic, the place and location are lovely, and was just what we needed. We would stay there again. The view of the golf course from our patio definitely added to our positive experience.
