The pandemic has driven down hotel prices to the point that a stay at this storied hotel in Downtown LA was not only a bargain, but cheaper than "lesser" hotels. After staying, I understand why -- it is in sore need of some renovations. The lobby, ballroom, hallways and rooms were all grand, and were probably the height of luxurious fashion when Franklin Roosevelt was president. Clearly, the hotel is using its historical status to avoid making any normal updates like fresh paint or new furniture. There were modern appliances, sure. But at a 4 star hotel I expect luxury toiletries, 21st century faucets, plush towels, crisp non-scratchy sheets, and a tv I can see from the bed. None of that was delivered. While many hotels are using the current occupancy slump to make needed updates, this one is resting on its laurels. While I'd have my event here, I'd book the block of rooms elsewhere.

Room towels were old and very used. Bed was the equivalent of a full sized cot. Bathroom was not clean either. The charm of the hotel and general areas were lovely. Pool seemed pretty murky. Only stayed for a couple nights so changing hotels wasn’t worth the hassle. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Despite the glamorous looking lobby, the rooms are very average and quite dated. $50/night in parking was pretty exorbitant, especially given the ample availability of on-site Peking. Lastly, after a very long day of traveling, I ordered late night foot delivery. However, the lobby attendant required the delivery person to leave the foot in the lobby (despite the fact that there are no access key requirements in the elevator). As a result, I was forced to get ready and travel down 9 floors when I was expecting delivery - a smaller issue, but pretty annoying at the time.

I was given a room that reeked of cigarette smoke and had to go to the lobby twice for this very same issue. Then, I decided to decline the $50 a day parking cost & park off site for $20 daily. After checkout i ended up getting charged $100 fee for parking anyway. Several calls where made attempting to speak with someone in the hotel. Being placed on hold >20min just to get hung up on wasn’t ideal. After then speaking with someone, i was told “maybe someone else parked under your name”. I called my CC costumer service & got it handled immediately.

I booked a room for my bday because of the pics I saw they uploaded but almost nothing like that . The Room I was given look like a Motel Room . The bathroom Tub have all black lined stained and people in the other room were very loud and Every where smells Weed . As I opened my door to step outside. This guys next door to me came out smoking weed heading to the elevator I had to wait for them to go before I leave because every where on that floor smells Weed .

The Downtown Biltmore was a great iconic hotel. It is a beautiful structure with ornate finishes. Unfortunitaly, the building has not been kept up the the condition it deserves. The carpets are not clean, there is deferred maintenance, no free self parking and no valet parking. The parking rate for self parking in a dirty garage was very high. The Biltmore used to have restaurants with great food, they are all closed, only a snack bar open. Even thought the nightly rate was greatly reduced, the parking fee made up for the differance. All employees were very helpful but the experiance was not the same as in the past.
