NH Collection Wien Zentrum - Vienna

Nice hotel in great location.

I arrived by personal vehicle and soon found out the hotel is on the Mariahilfer pedestrian mall. I risked a ticked, double parked and sought out the hotel. I found out I had to make an incredibly circuitous drive around the city to get to their parking structure which was right under the hotel. There practically is no front lobby and people were piled up waiting for transfers and trying to deal with the reception staff. The hotel is in an older building that has had a very extensive make-over. The room was very new. It had a small wet bar with a micro and a coffee maker. It has a cheap uncomfortable couch and a tiny desk. These few things were in such a huge room. It echoed, was uncomfortable and felt stark. The internet was only 1.5 Mbs; barely fast enough to get email without timing out but the wifi signal was strong. The bathroom was quite nice. The exercise room was just a recumbent bike, a few yoga balls and maybe a few dumbbells. The breakfast and the breakfast crew were excellent. They were attentive and cheerful. The phone in the room was incapable of making outside calls. The TV had only a few channels and nothing good. I think the label "NH Collection" is kind of like a warning that the hotel is of a different standard than the flagship properties.

Good points - comfy room, separate seating area, free wi fi, airy, great shower Not so good points -had asked for twin room but beds had been pushed together to make a double, although room was for 2 there were 3 coffee capsules (so one of you is doing without a second cup!) and no decaff available (I did ask), no extractor fan in bathroom, no tourist information at all and no instructions on how to use anything in the room eg air conditioning, safe, coffee machine, TV

Enjoyed 2 nights at the NH hotel in Vienna. Room was large (504) which had an additional large lounge area. Swivelling tv in centre of room allowed my wife to sleep while i watched tv in the lounge area - nice design. Hotel is in a great central location - plenty of shopping and dining options on the doorstep and the underground train entry just 50m down the road in order to travel around. Over all a great 2 day stay - would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Vienna.

Nice hotel. Poor customer service. Air conditioning system didn't work so we stayed with a heater all those 5 days.
