Absolutely’get’ that we booked during COVID and that facilities would be minimal. Was told at reception they’d provide us with masks (even though we had our own) but no masks in welcome pack which consisted of our key and a piece of paper stating if we needed anything to contact reception. After a long journey we Asked about food - no food. We asked if the bar was open? Yes until 9pm. Went downstairs at 8, it was closed. Breakfast was 2 mini croissants and 2 tiny pain au chocolates which were put in a bag outside our bedroom door the night before. Nice and dry by the time we ate them. We raided the local Sainsbury’s. I understand most of the staff have been furloughed but I would’ve thought a receptionist is key - for communication as well as queries or concerns. The hotel was absolutely deserted of staff after we checked in and when we checked out

Good old fashioned hotel.
Upgraded room for free. Parts need a refurb but i think it is ongoing. Difficult with an old building. Price point good.

I paid for bed and breakfast, but when I came down to the dining room in the morning I was advised that it was a continental breakfast and I would have to pay extra for hot food. I feel it was wrongly advertised and it should have said ‘continental breakfast included’ when I made the booking. I would not have booked this hotel if I’d known I was not getting a proper English breakfast as there is cheaper accommodation available in Calne.

A most enjoyable stay
A CHARMING hotel with great food.and excellent service ,staff could not be more helpful. I would certainly recommend. Not though for people with limited mobility as there is no lift. I am told there is one coming in new extention.

Paid extra for an executive room yet the small bed was inches off the floor and the sink in the bathroom leaked all over the floor...have stayed in the hotel many times before and had a much better standard room...the hotel needs to review the grading of its rooms. Very disappointing

Adequate, nothing special
The hotel is a little tired although this may change after the proposed building work is completed. It suffers from its age with creaky floorboards, draughty windows etc. but the room was warm enough. The mattress on the bed however was past it's best and gave me problems with my bad hip. Parking is only for a maximum of 5 cars otherwise you have to park about 200yards away in a street. Full breakfast comes at an extra cost.
