Not what we were expecting from a hotel that sports the name savoy the hotel itself was very clean and tidy the food however was terrible by the time you had made your way around the buffet your food was cold, mostly consisting of low quality high carb foods the juice was so watered down they were indistinguishable from each other, the evening entertainment was so loud one night it sounded like a football stadium, nowhere to go to have a quiet drink. And the restaurant had no dress code and allowed the children to run around sticking their hands into the food mainly the ice cream no parental control, it’s billed as a four star but overall is no better than butlins. Certainly will not be returning to any of their hotels and certainly would not recommend any one to use them.

Our time at this resort was absolutely amazing! We were a little worried because of the mixed reviews but we had a great time. Some reviews said that the food was horrible, but keep in mind you are booking a fairly cheap all inclusive resort so you can't expect Michelin star dining. As not food critiques, we thought the food was great! We were worried because we saw in reviews that the all inclusive package doesn't actually include ALL food and drinks, however, everything is very well labelled on menus so you know what is included. The staff also always mentioned what was included in the all inclusive. The buffet is completely included, and the other two restaurants that you have to reserve state on their menus what you can order. Reviews said that only pre-mixed cocktails were included, but the list of drinks available was very extensive. I have put a photo of the all inclusive drink list on this review. The staff was super nice, the room was clean and we had booked a double bed, but it was huge, more like the size of a California king. There was entertainment every night and daily activities that were free to participate in. The saunas in the spa are also free to use, but booking a massage is extra. We took a Bolt to and from the airport and it was only 40 euros each way. All the beach chairs on the resort are free to use, but the ones on the beach cost 2 euros for a whole day to book (we didn't feel a need to do this).

Hotel Review: Hotel Calheta Beach Our initial impression of the hotel was positive, with a well-maintained pool area and manageable size. However, this quickly changed upon closer inspection. Cleanliness: The hotel lacks proper cleanliness. Dishes in the dining area were often dirty, and floors throughout the hotel were poorly cleaned. The overall hygiene felt superficial at best. Room: Our room had a severe ant problem, with colonies in the bathroom and sleeping area. The bathroom itself was outdated, with peeling tiles, a broken showerhead, and low water pressure. Dining and Food: The dining area was noisy and chaotic, with staff carelessly handling dishes. Buffet themes changed daily but tasted bland and lacked variety, especially for vegetarians. Ants were also on the buffet as well as on the tables. Service: Reception staff were friendly, but other employees seemed unmotivated and unfriendly, creating a tense atmosphere. Location: The hotel’s location is its biggest strength, with a supermarket nearby and nice restaurants in the area. However, the hotel’s own restaurant was disappointing, despite friendly service. Conclusion: We cannot recommend Hotel Calheta Beach due to poor cleanliness, pest issues, and subpar service. Its good location is its only notable advantage.

This hotel is not all it claims to be. Pictures look way better online than what it looks like in person. The rooms are old and need to be updated. The all inclusive component is a joke. The food at the buffet is inedible and absolutely terrible. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. We tried to get out of reservation after one night and they would not refund us for the nights we hadn't stay yet. They blamed Expedia. Finally, after many wasted hours going back and forth they offered us to go stay down the street at their sister hotel for additional charges. Basically, we had to pay again with a small discount. The sister hotel was 5 stars and fantastic. It was not all inclusive, but did include breakfast and it was excellent.

Mein erstes Kompliment vorab: ich würde jederzeit gerne wiederkommen und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist angemessen. Die Family Suite ist schön gestaltet. Incl. Gäste-WC, was wir hervorragend fanden. In den Betten haben wir super geschlafen. Vergrößerungsspiegel und Fön im Bad waren sehr gut. Ach das Zimmerservice war sehr gut. Wir schätzten ganz besonders die Möglichkeit, sich Picknick-Pakete zu bestellen (wenn man alles Inklusive gebucht hat sind sie kostenfrei). So waren wir auf unseren Wanderungen immer gut versorgt. Die Speisen wurden ansprechend angeboten und die Auswahl ist sehr abwechslungsreich. Wer morgens gern Müsli findet auch warmen Haferbrei. :-) Jeden Abend gab es ein anderes Themenbuffet. Das hat uns sehr gut gefallen! Das Animationsteam kümmert sich gut um seine Gäste. Als einzigen Kritikpunkt habe ich anzumerken, dass die Animation am Pool für meine Begriffe häufig zu laut war. Da die Gäste überwiegend höheren Alters waren, nehme ich an, dassdie Wassergymnastik nicht mit peitschender Musik untermalt werden müsste. Ruhige Musik am Pool und auch im Restaurant finde ich angebracht aber alles was hektisch ist hat mich gestört

Kakerlaken im Zimmer
Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Kakerlaken, dass erklärt schon alles. Ich hab die selber beseitigt, allerdings nach 2 Tagen waren wieder welche da, könnte kotzen. Im Zimmer gab es einen Stromkasten an der Wand, was optisch nicht stört aber in der Nacht man nicht schlafen konnte, weil man sich vorkam wie in einem Elektrizitätswerk.

Erstklassiges Entgegenkommen des Restaurant Teams und der Küche um unser Baby mehrmals täglich mit frisch zubereiteten Mahlzeiten ohne Zucker und Salz zu verwöhnen. Mikrowelle im Speisesaal für sonstige Babynahrung oder Fläschchen. Gym hat einige gute Geräte aber es reicht nur für ein Pull-Training. Sehr gutes Gym um die Ecke (5 min mit dem Auto), dort kostet sie Wochenkarte nur 20 Euro.

The hotel is good but not perfect the drinks are way too strong and the service is really loud and not nice all the time. Sometimes they dont even speak english. When u go to the Spa u can make appointmets at the reception but u have have to pay the spa at itself. And nobody tells u that u have to pay it separately. So it has a lot to do for their guest in future. I wont go there again.

The food buffet ist always absolutely delicious, for breakfast, lunch and especially dinner! Amazing! The rooms are nice and clean. Only the shower could have been cleaned a little bit more intensely, but it was OK. The Hotel staff helped with booking of activities (Guided Hiking Tours, organized bus ride to Funchal, etc) which was really great. The hotel location just next to the sand beach is wonderful, we went there for swimming every day :-) I also liked the Sauna which was nice to use after a long hiking day. Only some little things were not so good: too little space for our clothes in the room (too small cupboard, etc). Personally for us, it was a little too noisy in the hotel, but this is quite logical in such a big hotel that offers a Kids Club. In our opinion, there could have been less or not so loud music during the day. One staff member was not really friendly but the rest of the staff was always very nice and helpful. Thank you very much!

The reception/accomodation/house keeping was good. The food was terrible and unedible. The drinks options were very limited. The pools were very crowded. The entertainment was loud, noisy and poor quality.
