Not overly impressed
Nice clean hotel, extra charge for the dog (which was not shared with us prior), rude staff and over priced for what it is. Expensive breakfast and unable to get through to room service or reception. Paid extra for a room with a sea view / balcony but had a giant pine tree in the way. Not overly impressed.

Tired short staffed hotel living off its position
The hotel was very short staffed from reception to the bar - a tired hotel that should be a maximum of £80 per night We waited more than 20 minutes to be served with a drink in the bar lounge (it was table service only) when I asked a 2nd time if we were going to be served I was told the by the bar lady that she had guests coming out of her ears and was very busy - for a 4 star hotel it was very poor service. The reception Manager was the only senior member of staff on site and said she would get us a drink when I went to the hotel reception to complain - not sure how a guest is less important than a staff member. Would not go there again no direction for staff and no support for them - we left the bar area without a drink and went to the next hotel called The Headland Hotel where Katie in the bar served us immediately with a smile and pleasantries- The Imperial need a Katie or two

Overall the hotel was good but a bit tired and need of some refurbishment. Staff very nice and efficient. Sunday dinner in restaurant was very nice.

A very enjoyable weekend break
We had a lovely relaxing stay at the Imperial Hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel worked vey well under the Covid restrictions and there were plenty of hand sanitisers placed around the Hotel and everything felt very clean and wiped down. The Restaurant worked very well and tables were well spaced apart with table service.

very clean and ideal position. bit of a uphill walk returning from town, but no problem for most people. If you want internet in your room, it could be a problem. I rang the hotel before we went and was told it was available in the bedrooms. However, I could not get it in ours, apart from by the entrance door. I complained about this a 3/4 times to no avail.

Beautiful views of the sea, with direct access to the south west coast walk. Rooms are light, spacious, comfortable and clean. Hotel staff doing a reasonable job of navigating COVID-19 safety measures, however there were occasional queues at reception, the bar and most of all for breakfast in the morning. Restaurant menu is uninspiring.
