Needs work

Lovely host but the property was a bit tired - stayed in a large twin room overlooking the river, but bathroom in particular needs bringing up to standard with hoes around pipes, and old fittings, with cobwebs in the ceilings. Beds not particularly comfortable. Not expensive so I suppose the price reflects the quality, but a missed opportunity in our view as good location.

Welcoming host, noclean room

The host was very friendly and welcoming, and a goldmine of helpful information. The room was fine, except for the bed which was extremely hard. I had a very uncomfortable night, and found it difficult to sleep. Otherwise, the experience was good.

Great location near Hadrians Wall & Vindolanda excavated Roman fort & village ; scenic river & old stone bridge just across the road .

We are a family of four with two young children and the family room was perfect for our stay, with a wonderful view of the river from the window. The owner was extremely helpful, even offering use of their washing machine when we needed it! Would highly recommend this B&B.

The Reading rooms at Haydon Bridge are situated in a great location. Ideal for exploring the surrounding area which has much to offer with its rich history and it’s picturesque villages. The pub across the road does a great Burger. Brian the owner is a very accommodating friendly host. He can’t do enough to make you feel welcome. The B&b has a helpful selection of maps and information on attractions to visit. Plus Brian is on hand to assist with any additional questions you may have. The rooms are comfortable, light and good value for money. My room overlooked the river which was nice to wake up to. The cooked breakfast is a definite must, particularly the scrambled eggs.

Excellent stay

On arrival at the Reading Rooms we were given a choice of rooms but decided on the ground floor as it was light and looked very comfy, we were not disappointed. The owner was very knowledgeable about the area and recommended areas to visit and where to eat and drink in Haydon Bridge. The breakfasts were made and served buy Christina who was just as friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here to family and friends.

Excellent one night stay

An excellent stay in a lovely quiet village . Two mins walk from the rail station , just 10 mins by train into Hexham & an ideal base to discover Hadrian's Wall country . The 685 bus which runs between Newcastle & Carlisle stops on the main road & there's a shop in the village if you are walking in the area & need supplies . I had a large upstairs room , comfy bed , hot drinks & biscuits , thou shower somewhat under-powered . Lots of information available about the local area .Lovely friendly host cooked an excellent breakfast & no issues with having this earlier than the usual serving time . The village local across the bridge was also doing a brisk trade . Highly recommended ..
