HTL 587, Ascend Hotel Collection

A nice hotel in a good location for accessing much of the city on foot or by public transport. Really glad that we weren't deterred by the negative reviews about the homelessness. Yes, its there and a massive issue for the entire city not just the area around the hotel. They are not agressive or intimidating at all - its just a very sad situation and many were infact friendly and polite to us all.

Loved this hotel for its cute room and friendly service. It honestly had everything we needed. The only downside was the location. The nights got pretty loud for us with some of the homeless people outside blasting music and yelling making it a little difficult to stay asleep at times. This isn’t the hotel’s fault but something to keep in mind for any light sleepers out there.

Love the rustic look !!! Room was clean a bed was really comfortable! With a huge tv in the king room ! The only negatives are u can hear everything from outside even being on the 5th floor . I’m a light sleeper so hearing the cars in the morning bothered me. The location isn’t dangerous there’s just a large amount of crack heads .. outside but if you don’t bother them or even look at them it’s fine they are always in there own head so mind ur business and don’t make eye contact.i think it’s fine for 1 or two nights it’s very safe and i felt comfortable staying there. Oh and i was a little disappointed in the breakfast it was a very small selection

It was reasonably clean and tidy and affordable. On the downside the it definitely didn’t feel safe for my family with large groups of homeless people sleeping in the streets surrounding the hotel. The shower from the floor above leaked into our bathroom whenever someone used it, and it wasn’t smooth to change rooms. We wouldn’t book here again

Staff was great. Very helpful in providing directions and how to use the bus and metro system. No parking and the parking lot we were directed to seemed swarmy and dishonest to me. Keep quoting fees then upping them. Wanted an additional $10 when I picked up our car after paying $30 to keep overnight.

Bad neighbourhood with many homeless people

Never got to stay. Our taxi driver said this was not a good area before we even got there.. I have never seen such massive homelessness with people wandering around the streets outside the hotel like zombies. There were also people living in tents on all the side walks. We never stopped as I didnt feel safe with my wife and our suite cases in such a bad area. We ended up heading to a lovely hotel across town.

I didn’t like anything about the property. Black mold on shower and windows and a lot of homeless addicts at the entrance of the hotel. Did not feel safe at all and ended up getting another hotel the same day to not stay in this one. Staff was rude and would not recommend this place to anyone.
