Great place to stay
Great place to stay, the only drawback was, if it is raining or any bad weather, to get to the restaurant from our room, and some others, you needed to go out, for us, our door was across the whole front and round the corner, then there was the code lock to enter. If it was raining heavy then you would be rather wet, otherwise we could not fault this Hotel for Service, Comfort, Room or Cleanliness.

Fantastic Hideaway
The staff were incredibly competent and friendly. The room was spacious and very cute. We were on the second floor, so had lovely views of trees and green fields. The room was quiet and well-appointed, with an automatic espresso machine. We found the breakfast tasty and filling. Near to the sights of Hadrian’s Wall while still in a village setting. Small pub with friendly patrons below.

We enjoyed our stay. The Red Lion is a good, straightforward country pub with rooms in a lovely setting. It's very convenient for continuing on to Hadrian's Wall and is on local bus routes and a national cycle route. Nice bar and a good selection of cask ales. The restaurant is a little dark and the food is nothing fancy but perfectly OK and good value. Only quibble was the bottle of Chilean merlot which was poor, perhaps best to stick to beer? The staff are helpful and welcoming.
