Mediocre Hotel in Madalena
I was not very happy with my stay at Hotel Caravelas. It is very run down looking and not like the photos on the website. The location is good but it was not worth what I paid.

The hotel is ok but not really exceptional! The breakfast is very good the staff friendly and welcoming! I reckon that the hotel building needs some modern update, however is comfortable!

Best spot for touring.
Great location to get to ferry and main sights. The pillows are a bit lumpy. The WiFi is only good in hotel lobby.

Good hotel with great location
I enjoyed my stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The location is great if you plan to do activities from Madelana, CW Azores is just round the corner, as are many tour/car rental/cafes and the ferry terminal is just over the road then it's a short hop over to Faial for the day. The room was comfortable, in good condition, cleaned every day and mine had a lovely view from the balcony to Mount Pico. Staff were polite and helpful with a speedy check in when I arrived moment's after a large group and allowed a slightly later check out to accommodate a trip I had booked. The pool is far from Olympic size but it is clean and decent enough to top up the tan and have an afternoon dip and the WiFi works out there. Breakfast is a very well stocked buffet. You'd be hard pushed to think of a breakfast food they don't have. It's not 5* luxury but I wasn't planning on spending my days hanging out in a hotel. It's a comfortable, clean and convenient place for a reasonable price.
