The Three Acres Inn & Restaurant

Lovely comfy quiet room (in the annex) wonderful dinner and breakfast and free electric car charging.

Excellent hotel, staff wonderful, food exceptional, nothing but praise.

The food in the restaurant was, as usual, outstanding. However, it was out first time staying in the hotel and I must admit I was dissapointed. For the £90 nightly rate we paid, the room was boiling got with no way of turning down the radiator. The window was leaking and we were given towels to just put under the window. The rooms were very outdated and the shower was tiny. The bathroom door barely closed as it was so close to the toilet we only just managed to shut it. Service at breakfast was impeccable however and the staff are wonderful.

3 acres is generally a nice place. The pub and outdoors in very nice. The food is beautiful 😍 the staff are all nice and professional 😃 The room we had was just not up to standard. And given that everything else was nice it was a bit of a let down.

The food - the reason you go to the Three Acres was alright but vastly over-priced. I started with a game spring roll which was light and crisp but flavourless. The Mallard main was tough - we asked for steak knives and even those wouldn't get through these breasts - and sat on a simple bed of leaves with a sweet sauce which had little finesse. The celariac dauphinoise came in a thin liquid, was under-cooked and had hard impenetrable lumps of cheese in it. To charge £25 for such a dish is simply unwarranted. I rarely pay that much in top restaurants in London. I stayed overnight at the hotel. The room (No 6) was appalling - like a homely B&B from the 1980's with pine bed and wardrobe, a radiator that couldn't be turned off, lumpy tired (cheap) pillows and a duvet that was weighty from age, and too thick for a warm room. The bathroom was tatty - the cistern was broken and had to be yanked a number of times and barely flushed. The hotel's staff were all very pleasant and helpful, although the waiting staff's table service could be refined. Three Acres has a local reputation for excellence which is completely undeserved. The rooms need to be completed updated - there is no excuse for tatty rooms with tired and overused bedding. The food is hugely over-priced. No-one minds paying £25 for a main course if the work of the kitchen justifies it - but here they do not. I think there are much better places to eat locally which offer better value and just as nice an ambience.

The Three Acres is a lovely place to stay and have a meal. The rooms are always warm and cosy. The restaurant always feels special and the food is lovely. I had the french onion soup and it was delicious, as was the duck. We will return.

Lovely accommodation and a great pub with good selection of craft ales and spirits. Still not eaten here in the evening but the feedback on the food I have read previously was confirmed by the very high quality of the breakfast
