Kanazawa Hakuchoro Hotel Sanraku

Best place we stayed during our 17 day Japan trip! We stayed in Air bnb's, Ryokans, a mountain hut on Mt Fuji and a Ryokan. This hotel was by far the most comfortable. We stopped by the tourist info desk at the train station before grabbing a taxi to the hotel. The woman at the tourist desk was very pleased and excited about our hotel choice, telling us how central it is, that it is a famous hotel and the best in Kanazawa. We think she was right! Best amenities (everything was complimentary), superb breakfast, expert hospitality from staff and amazing onsen! Would go back to Kanazawa just to stay here again. Stayed in luxury executive suite. Perfect in every way

everything was great except: the mattress was so hard that neither my wife or I could sleep well. People liking or needing hard mattresses would be well served here.

We spent 4 nights in Kanazawa with our 3 kids this June. The hotel was conveniently located to the castle and gardens but 6-8 blocks away from most other hotels and good food options. The hotel staff were friendly and provided excellent service. The hotel itself was badly dated and desperately needs updating. The hallway to our room smelt like cat pee and smoke despite this being the non smoking area. The breakfast was mostly traditional Japanese breakfast which we paid for but did not eat after the first day. I would recommend a hotel closer to the outdoor market and shopping district as they are more modern, still convenient to major sites and have better access to dining options.

“Amazing” does not do this place justice ! Everything is perfect from staff to the hotel itself.

Not exactly on the bus route to/from the train station but well located to the Castle and the Gardens. Buses are only 100Y (shopping bus) or 200Y normal bus but everything is walkable in this town. A hotel for old Japanese tourists really. It's definitely seen better days...

Loved the old school vibe of this hotel! Don’t miss the hot spring on the basement level, lovely experience.

We booked 2 adults and 1 kid in this not cheap hotel. Hoping can give my husband and daughter a Japanese flavor experience. The hotel is old and looks very poor from outside. Inside has some nice lighting and colorful windows. Upon our arrival, the staff advised us that we didn’t pay for kid breakfast, as the amount is not significant, we didn’t argue but didn’t understand why we booked 3 including breakfast but kid is not excluded (very confusing). Then went into this traditional room, quite small, everything only provided for 2 people- 2 futons; pillows; quilts. The instructions show as 2 twin futons but staff said futon only has one size, we have to pay extra over 6000 yen for another set. Eventually the hotel manager, a very nice lady, helped out but the experience is confusing, misleading and not very pleasant. This is one of the most expensive hotels we lived. Not happy about it. But thanks for the lovely lady manager still.

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We had a deluxe Western style room which was comfortable and nicely appointed. The breakfast buffet had all kinds of offerings, both Japanese and Western -- and the coffee was good. (Just don't get there at the last minute -- some things run out!) Staff were friendly and helpful. And I loved the onsen. Lots of women scrubbing away and then dunking. Being next to the Castle and very near the park was great also.
