The curtains in the room were missing a panel of shade's that had either been removed or broken for whatever reason. This allowed bright outside lighting to fill our room at night when trying to sleep. They said they would send someone to room to replace but never did. Later they said the "engineer" never showed up for work. Poor customer service. They should have known of the issue in the first place and not put anyone in that room until it was repaired. They were not booked up and had plenty of other rooms I am sure.
I have been to The Fontaine a number of times over the past 6 years and I have to say that the property has gone downhill. There are a lot of upgrades that need to be made such as simple painting and repair of chipped and nicked woodwork. The bar upstairs was very noisy. The bathroom drain was very slow. The hallway smelled of sewer gas on the first morning of my stay. Overall I probably won't rebook here on future visits to Kansas City. Plus they charge a $7 daily fee - for what?
Hallways are extremely loud. Doors slam shut and there was a dog barking in the room next door. The parking is extra even with parking validation.
Love the design of the hotel and the location!!!! It’s a small boutique hotel with all the amenities of a large hotel.

I was expecting a little more from this place. And I certainly don’t think that covid19 should be an excuse for the lack of service from this hotel. For the price and also having to pay an extra $20 a day for parking and the elevator not working and parking garage arms not working, Not to mention no room service, Or housekeeping, which is a crock. For the love if you are a “boutique” hotel than you should find a special way to accommodate your guests with at least a courtesy call daily to meet the needs of your guests an perhaps a tray outside the room with clean cups and coffee. That’s the least that you could do! I will not stay here ever again! Stop using COVID for your excuse to keep raking in the $$ without the proper accommodations for your guests. For crying out loud! There are chain hotels who at least find a way to make sure that they are still fulfilling the needs of guests and providing them with some kind of a breakfast and clean coffee cups and necessities in their rooms!

The hotel was very nice. Employees pleasant. Our room was a little dusty and the air return in the ceiling hadn’t been dusted in quite a while. Our complimentary toiletries didn’t include a bar of soap, which was a bummer. And there wasn’t a towel to put on the floor by the shower. But those were all minor inconveniences. We also liked the hotels response to Covid 19. They had a big bottle of sanitizer installed in the rooms by the door.
Finishings in the room showed ware , light out in restroom, maybe it's just me but i expect more out of a hotel at this level.
