Hotel Gaon J Stay

Room is nice and clean. Location is close to public transport and local attractions. only some of the staff speaks English. Parking is available as well. The common area has pool table and can be used as a restaurant but I'm not sure if is it active.

Hotel looks dated but has the all basic amenities. Kettle, TV, clean sheets, hair dryer, shampoo in a large bottle, shower foam in a large bottle, soap and 4 small towels in the room. Was able to get more towels from the reception when I needed them. The reception will try to help with your requests, some of them speak rather good english/chinese. How much information you would get depends on who is at the counter. The hotel is at a turn from a street full of restaurants. Convenience marts are aplenty with one every couple of turns. About 5mins walk to the Segwipo Olle traditional market which is a must visit for local food!

Very bad water pressure in the shower, otherwise as expected. Noise insulation to hallway is not so good, but not that noticeable when AC is on. Cheap rooms have no view (looked into the neighboring wall). Has a kitchen and a great dimly lit lounge area with music and pool game. Stayed 3 nights.

The hotel is so nice. It is near the market, restaurants and bus stops. The guy at the reception is so nice and helpful and can communicate in english clearly. He helped us a lot by teaching us which bus number to take when we plan to go somewhere. This hotel is too good for such a low price I would highly recommend it.

We were able to come by before the check in time and leave our luggage in the lobby while we went back out to explore the nearby area. They had 2 bikes available to borrow at no cost, so we took them to check out the waterfalls and the lava rock formations while waiting to check in. When we returned, the receptionist told us that they had upgraded us to their biggest room. The room itself was a bit outdated and could use new lighting and wallpaper, but for the price we paid, it was excellent value. There is also a public lounge area next to the lobby with tons of comic books (in Korean), a pool table, foosball table, and music instruments.

The front desk staff was really friendly to me and helpful, and I enjoyed how clean the rooms were. I felt comfortable sleeping there because of the added amenities, the numerous cleaning staff I saw, and the curtains installed for each bed. Easily the best hostel I've ever stayed in, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay in one of the community rooms again. I even made friends!

It was a very convenient location in Seogwipo as it was just minutes away from the bus stops, food street (with amazing black pork BBQ and grilled cutlass fish), Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market, etc. The staff were friendly and helpful, as long as you're willing to ask them, they can direct you to yummy food nearby and direct you to the bus stop with direct bus to the airport! There are also two lounges next to the lobby one is open 24 hours with a small kitchen and water dispenser, while the other is a games area with music, Foosball table and pool table opened till midnight. They provide free coffee and water at the latter. What could be improved would be the bathroom as water has to flow out to be drained near the toilet bowl and this causes the whole bathroom to get wet, which is not a great feeling when the weather is cold. Overall, thank you Hotel Gaon J Stay team for giving us a memorable time! You guys are awesome!

Cheap room rates; friendly staff; comfortable common areas at L1 to relax and get free coffee. Small room; no wifi in room; no cleaning unless requested at counter (no phone in room). Overall, worth it only for the cheap rates.

There're very limited parking in the basement of the Hotel. We were given a map showing two public parking "near" the hotel. One is open parking with rocky road free for the whole day, the other one is multi-storey parking which is free from 6pm - 9am only. We booked a Triple Room. The WiFi is ok, room size is ok. However, please be careful when you use the bathroom, always wear the slippers provided. My younger sister slipped and fell in the bathroom as it's very slippery. Her wound is so deep that it wouldn't stop bleeding for 1 day! The food street near the hotel is very quiet. Big plus point of the hotel is that it only takes 3 mins to walk to the Seogwipo Maeil Olleh market. It's open till about 9pm and have stalls selling good food like garlic fried chicken, etc.
