Sand Dollar Motel

I never talked to anyone at the motel. The keys were in the mailbox, left earl next morning. Then my credit card was overcharged $15.00 This was the last time Hotels com got me.

Beware!!! They put a chair and ashtray literally RIGHT NEXT to the door and say no smoking in the room. But if you smoke in that chair the smoke wafts into the room and they charge you 250$ saying you did smoke in the room. Which I didn't ! Shady, shady! I used to stay here frequently for a quick trip but not anymore!

The pictures of this place were not what it actually looked like. The room and bathroom were a lot smaller than advertised. This however was not the worst part. Upon entering our room we found blood stains on the comforter and a pee stain on the sheet. We ended up going to Dollar General and buying sheets to put on the bed. We brought our own blankets and pillows. I am short 5’1 and I could touch both sides of the bathroom at once. There was no shelving in the bathroom. Someone in a neighboring room smoked pot most of the weekend and we could smell it in our room. The ac unit was super loud and would cut on and off multiple times in the night. The location was good, close to beach. That was the only positive thing about the room. If you can stay somewhere else I would.

I was expecting old but my first red flag was in the bathroom. Rather than a washable towel floor mat, there was a woven unwashable rug at the toilet shower area. The towels were very thin. The beds slept ok and the temperature control was ok. The next morning we woke up to roaches in the kitchenette area and killed about 10. The lady at the front desk apologized and said they had recently treated the room. The room should not have been used until this was under control. They refunded the 2nd night and we checked out. The owners of this hotel needs to do major cleaning and updating of the soft furnishings.

Expected a bit more for the price. If you only need the room to sleep a few hours when not on the beach or fishing it's adequate. Staff is friendly and seem to be doing their best with ratty furniture & worn out linens. Plusses: park at your door, good AC, walk to the beach. Advice: Bring your own pillows & towels; sheets too if you have clean concerns. Bring snacks, sodas, etc - nothing nearby. Pray for good beach weather

For a last minute stay this was the only place we could find close to the beach. It was way overpriced for what we had. The sheets & comforters were worn, mattress was too firm, & pillows were not comfortable. The remote to the tv did not work. It was an okay place for one night. I would not stay for longer than that here.
