We were the only two people there for our two nights stay! Felt quite exclusive! Very quaint experience at the lodges. They are basic but comfortable and good clean bathroom with hot electric shower. There are lots of biting mosquitos but no ants in room, only geckos and lizards!! Loads of insects, Leopard cats and wildlife around the lodge! Previously to the stay at Sunshine Lodge, Siti emailed over a lot of information and email communication was really great so that everything was organised when we arrived. You catch a boat over to the lodge from Bilit village and then it is all about being on the river and seeing all of the animals, the river banks are absolutely beautiful and full of proboscis monkey and long tailed macaque! Hornbills and eagles fly over and sit in the tallest trees. Fruit bats at dusk. Crocodiles in the river to see and highly recommended paying for extended trip down river to the groves and further as this is where we saw the Pygmy elephants, at least 17 bathing at the river bank!! Hot tea and coffee always on offer and they can take you to the shop to buy soft drinks or bring your own (there is a fridge to store it). We did the Oxbow trek which was so muddy but worth wile especially to arrive at the peaceful jetty. Mus, the guide, speaks great english and is friendly, helpful, interesting and caring. Managed our trip very well and professionally. He is in charge and the boat captain, chef and security guy are all they making your stay comfortable.
