Nordurey Guesthouse

Nice room and beautiful kitchen! We had noisy neighbours unfortunately but that's not the fault of the guesthouse. They are available by phone 24h so we were able to call them.

We booked this guesthouse for two nights before and after our Laugavegur Trail hike as it is decently-priced and conveniently located within walking distance of the BSI bus terminal. This guesthouse operates on a self check-in basis where the front door and room key collect codes are emailed to you 2 days before your stay. This was simple and fuss-free and we quite liked the process. We got a room on the second floor (same as the shared kitchen), and it was clean and spacious with comfortable beds. There is one shared bathroom for our floor, which is generally fine except that a queue will form if other guests on the same floor intend to shower at the same time or if guests using the kitchen also wish to use the bathroom. There is also a washing machine and a dryer in the basement, so that you can do your laundry at no extra charge. This was very helpful to us after our hike. We also liked that the shared kitchen includes a common coffee machine which guests can use for complimentary coffee. My only gripe is that the shower temperature on the second floor bathroom never goes beyond lukewarm, so it gets really cold taking a shower in the night or early in the morning when it’s colder outside.

Great location, free parking right out front, clean and comfy. More hooks or hangers for towels and jackets in room is recommended, mind you there were some but we had a group of 4 people. A great place to stay!

Convenient location, easy to check in and out. Beds were a little bit too soft for my liking. It's a very compact building with closely spaced rooms, stairs and bathrooms, making it pretty noisy whenever someone is moving around.

Good deal for the price. The only minus is that it's next to a busy street, therefore a bit noisy when you want to sleep.

I was not used to the type of key entry used at the site but another visitor helped me figure it out.

Nice place with parking which was necessary as the hired car was used everyday for sightseeing. Checking ok but with no one there could have been a problem. A bit noisy at times as 4 rooms on each floor and a family of 6 in one room. Shared bath room time consuming at times. Kitchen and eating area on 2nd floor very handy.
