Booked a suite but unfortunately ended up in a drab tired bland cramped room with a tiny window overlooking the car park. No curtains on the window Just a blind so the spotlight above the window kept us awake all night. Bathroom so cramped it’s a squeeze to get to loo. We stay in 2-4 hotels a week and unfortunately would not return here.

Fab place
Chose the pub for it's rooms, not realising that it has a superb restaurant. Proper home cooked food, to a very high standard, with little twists, making it very individual. Desserts wonderful. Cooked breakfast made to order. Staff very helpful with local knowledge.

The bathroom was small but clean, the sink was a bit to big to get around. Room had seen better days bit shabby, bed was comfortable and clean , room was cold at night. Food was very good we had diner and breakfast. our room had no view just over looking car park and we paid a tad to much we felt art £100 b&b one night stay room 7.

Hotel was very welcoming. Evening meal was good and there was a really good spread of cereals, pastries and cooked dishes for breakfast. There was ample parking.

A classy classic English Inn
On our roadtrip through Scotland and England in August 2019, we arrived late in the evening at the White Horse Inn, on a bank holiday. Lovely staff went out of their way to welcome us, to show us our room, and to serve us local ales at the bar. We spent a wonderful, very calm, night in a impeccable guest room and discovered the beautiful surrounding in the morning (from our room, there was a bay-window opening onto a meadow). Breakfast at the Inn, by itself, would have been worth the visit: the full English (with exquisit, mostly local, ingredients) lasted all day. In conclusion, the White Horse Inn (which is located in Compton Bassett, at the end of a very long road, not in the city of Calne) is a great, classic, English Inn, and it has well deserved its superior rating on hotels.com.
