I stayed 5 nights in the Podshare.
It's clean, bed is comfortable, everyone respect totally your privacy (even though there's not much) and no one will ever touch your belongings so this is really good.
However, this is not a "hostel" the way we might understand it in Europe (or anywhere else in the world)
First it's really expensive, as much as a normal hotel room, but absolutely everything is expensive in California so ok...
My main issue was that there are not only travellers there. It is possible to rent a bed monthly for 1000$. So there are actually many people from Venice and LA who literally live there to avoid living in the street. In other words, homeless people live in the podshare, there were at least 4-5 when I was there.
I think it's actually a great option/solution for them ! They get an accessible place and avoid the street, but this definitely NOT the experience I'm looking for... the "permanent" residents don't have the same interest or need than a visitor...
I'm a traveller going in a hostel, supposedly to meet people of my age with same interest and situation but that was absolutely not the case (almost everyone is close or above 40yo...)
So no, I do not recommend this place !
I don't know if all hostels in Venice or in LA are in the same situation but definitely avoid this place if you're looking for "young traveller" atmosphere...
But to be honest, unless you really haven't found anything else, it's still a good, descent and clean place to sleep in.
