Hotel Kea
Room was excellent. Staff courteous and very attentive to needs. Not sure the hotel can do anything about it due to it being Iceland but when using the water the sulfur smell was strong and the water had a sulfur taste to it. Just used bottle water. Good location

Great place to stay mid Ringroad journey
Absolutely loved the Kea hotel. Outstanding location with loads of restaurants, shopping and parking areas close by. Very centrally located in Akuryeri right in the middle of our ring road round trip. Ease of booking, comfortable rooms and good service

8/10 Very good

Parking after checkin is not as simple as it could be. The front desk has a small map that they will refer you to but its not that easy to drive around and just park. If staff just slowed down to give a bit more detail (street markers) that would help instead if saying how they arent sure about some streets because of ongoing construction.

8/10 Very good

We liked the hotel and enjoyed our stay. The property is conveniently located to resturants, shopping, and sightseeing activities. Vik is a cute fishing village and perfect for whale watching and grabbing a good, hot meal. The hotel looks like a four-to-five star hotel on the outside and inside, and offers a wonderful breakfast--one of the best in Iceland! The room was amazing. We liked the panoramic windows, beds, bathroom, and TV with Netflix access. Conversely, parking and the room location was not ideal. Parking is very limited near the property and a series of uneven steps leading to the lobby makes it difficult to bring your luggage into the property. This proved difficult for my mobility challenged family member. Also, our room was very difficult to get to. Apparently, the hotel merged with the next building on the block and they were not able to connect the floors together on the same level. We had to go through a maze of elevators and stairwells to get to our room with our luggage. It was very confusing and cumbersome. It would've been a perfect stay had it not been for the room location. Overall, I still recommend this property but wish I could give it five stars.

The only concern I had about the facility is that the hotel has no onsite parking. You park on the street for free up till 10 AM. Afther that you have to pay for parking. Something to be award of.

2/10 Poor

For all that is good an holy, do not stay here on a weekend. AGAIN: DO NOT STAY HERE, PLENTY OF OTHER OPTIONS IN TOWN! It doesn't matter how nice the hotel is or how good the location. You pay a premium for that anyways. In the elevator, there is a sign that says "please be quiet after 11 PM" - which is super! But then, the hotel bar/restaurant will have a DJ blasting music in their venue until 1 AM - and they know about it! So forget sleeping. At time the staff on duty can't do anything. They offered to stick in into a sub-basement room with a tiny window under ceiling in the corner (yes, you read that right), at the end of the hotel - where you could still hear the music. Obviously also not where I wanted to be. Hotels.com was of no help either. AGAIN, DO NOT STAY HERE!

2/10 Poor

Disappointing. Astonished to find out the room was in a different section of the hotel with no access to the lobby. Entrance is through a small side door. Hallway is narrow and dark. Room is small. Even with a window, we could not open it because what we saw is only 2 staircases - one staircase is fire escape staircase and the other one leads to the rooftop. Parking is on the street.

10/10 Exceptional

Enjoyed my stay at Keahotels which was central to a lot of dining & shopping in Akureyri. Really liked the room as well as the offered breakfast, too. My only negative would be that there seemed to be inexplainable banging & knocking around the building, which did make it quite loud, especially into the evening hours.

2/10 Poor

Extremely noisy, drunks were so loud at the hotel bar and kept us up late into the night, leaving the bar revving their engines like maniacs, worst nights sleep on our entire Iceland trip. Room was decent but shower was extremely small, if you’re a big person you would have difficulty lifting your arms. If you’re looking to party this would be your place but not a place to stay with your 12 yr old.

6/10 Good

Nice hotel and staff, however, no parking on site and rooms on the 2nd floor cause you to have to go up and down multiple elevators and travers hallways to get to your room. Neither are convenient for traveling with luggage. Otherwise, had a nice stay.

The hotel is in a cute town with shopping and beautiful sites. The hotel was comfortable and staff were helpful. Our room was located above the outside bar patio and was very loud. It also had a lounge area next to our room on the 3rd floor. Definitely not quiet. The manager did relocate us on the second night to a quieter room.
