Definitely not a four star
Disappointing!! No breakfast in room, how can it be a four star hotel with no breakfast menu for the room! We booked a premium room too

For 2025, we will still consider the Clayton but m
We stay at the Clayton every Christmas time - the staff are consistently friendly and attentive. The bar and restaurant area is nice. This is something like our 8/9th stay here.
The room we were given was 125 on the ground floor. It had clearly had a recent re-fit with hard floors and an updated decor. It was cold when we arrived as the radiators weren’t on and the new flooring obviously doesn’t keep heat, just one to bear in mind if you arrive early. (We got a room straight away at around 11am so that was a positive).
Unfortunately, the time of year lends itself to a busy time for the hotel with the RDS next door. We were consistently woken each night by the children of parents who clearly couldn’t be bothered to deal with them or keep them quiet. Once or twice at 10pm was acceptable but I draw the line at someone’s crotch goblins running around at 1am, only for their selfish sperm donor of a father to saunter down the hallway at 2am whistling as loud as he could.
Our room was also situated close to the stairs for the car park and near the lifts so noise was a constant. It took the sparkle off what is usually a great stay.
On a side note, the hotel may want to connect the TV’s to the WiFi so people can watch their Netflix/YouTube etc. The new TV’s are enabled after all so when I went to reception to ask if they should be disconnected from the internet, this seemed to be policy for the entire hotel.
For 2025, we will still consider the Clayton but may go elsewhere.

Lovely hotel. Let down by restaurant food
Great stay for rugby weekend. Room clean, well appointed and comfortable. Great breakfast. Only negative was the very average food in evening. Pretty poor quality and over priced. Otherwise a great hotel to stay in for a rugby weekend

Really disappointing room and service
Our check in was terrible - we asked for cash back because there is no cash machine at the hotel and they took 200 off our card only to then tell us it was credit not cash back, at which point we were told a refund would take several days. Our room looked good but turned out not to be. It was allegedly an upgrade but it has a interconnecting door which we were not told about and because our check took so long and we had an event, we didn’t notice until we got back that night. It was a horrifically noisy place with noises from other rooms and every time our neighbour used the bathroom. The room was very hot with no way of changing the heat. The shower control fitting was loose and didn’t work properly meaning water coming from the shower head and bath tap at the same time, the sink plug got stuck in place and we couldn’t undo it; eventually wedges it free but hurt my finger. The breakfast was grand and the hotel itself is nice but the room and check in services were atrocious. My wife is pregnant and she was very upset that our room had a weird door to another room without notice. Really need to do much better for 260 euro a night

Nothing new. Same ole hotel
Management keep saying it's doing a refurb on the rooms. Years later. Nothing.
Communal areas. Food. Breakfast all fine but the rooms are so old fashioned.

Good, not quite great.
Good enough, comfy bed, good breakfast and dinner. Gym is not worth going to and needs expanding x 5 and investment in new kit. For a hotel this size to have a gym with 20 year old kit that fits 5 people is not good enough.
Room was quite old fashioned, perfectly good enough and comfy! Need a spruce up I think, but fundamentally I’d happily stay there again.
