An Elegant Castle with Elegant Service
One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Architecturally splendid, and a true 5 star hotel. The service was impeccable and the dinner and breakfast were elegant and well done. A great hotel for a romantic few days or a family outing. If you are driving, it is about 50 min from Fountainebleu and 25 minutes from Chartre.

The beautiful chateau
In our road trip around France we wanted to experience staying in the great chateaux. We were recommended to stay at Chateau L'Esclimont. When we looked at some previous negative reviews we wondered whether we should but decided to go ahead anyway. We are so glad we did. It is an amazing experience and well worth the cost. The staff were marvellous. Very helpful. The dinner was absolutely exquisite, sensational as was the sumptuous breakfast. No complaints about the food at all. Some reviewers were critical about the food and the cost but please ignore them. Either the chef has changed or the reviewers were being super critical. It is true that the buildings are in a state of decline but for us it added to the charm of the place. The manager explained to us that the Chateau is closing in January for an 18 month restoration. We are so looking forward to coming back again after it reopens to compare it to our recent stay. Driving down the driveway into the Chateau is a special experience. Like entering Disneyland. A magical castle in s beautiful setting.

Unbelievable hotel.
Absolutly amazing chateau, staff are so friendly and helpful, room was fantastic and the property itself is out of this world. Would love to stay longer. Restaurant a little expensive so if you are not up for it be prepared to doc into Chartres for dinner.

Grand and Romantic
A Very romantic property!!! We were revisiting after 26 years for our Anniversary. It was he first stop on our honeymoon. How lovely to return. Still no stand up shower in the room but very comfortable bed! While the place does seem a bit understaffed, the staff on hand went out of their way to make it special. Breakfast buffet was awesome. Chartres Cathedral is close by and a must see.

good in parts
The hotel has 5 stars. While the staff were very attentive and helpful the attention to detail was missing. Starbucks style cups for tea in the room, that is not 5 star. The grounds badly maintained, not withstanding the weather problems. The food very overpriced and about 3* standard

Beautiful authentic chateau in bucolic setting.
Beautiful authentic chateau in bucolic setting. Grounds are lovely, and beautiful interior detail. If you like new you won't like it. If you love history and authentic then you will love it. Bathroom fixtures all looked new and worked great. Great hot water and water pressure. Peaceful setting. Less than 30 minutes from Chartres. Cute picturesque village...didn't see any stores but charming looking village church and narrow streets. They don't have turndown service.

Magnificent
It's a frickin' castle! The grounds are breathtaking and the experience--for the price--is incredible! The interior isn't in perfect condition, but you won't mind at all! Only warning--there is some exotic taxidermy, so if you're offended, stay elsewhere.

A princely hotel without a princely price
Gorgeous location and first rate service and friendliness. Superb dining--best meal during our trip, eaten with a full moon lighting the gardens. Perfect!

This is a beautiful hotel on the outside but inside is pretty shaby. The carpet is dirty the wallpaper is stained and peeling and there are spider webs all over the windows. This hotel is way too over priced for what you get.

Fabulous hotel in sumptuous grounds
We stayed at the hotel on our way to Chartres in June of this year. We had a very nice, large room with an attached sitting area for watching tv or reading. We had dinner at the hotel which was quite special. The service was excellent and the food delicious. The grounds are worth spending some time exploring. They are beautifully manicured in a traditional French style. The Chateau has a moat around it which adds to the feeling of being in a different time and place.

Nice Chauteau
Nice place, but avoid room 38, no water pressure to shower./bath.....
Another problem :all public rooms were booked for private functions and NO space for booked guests to use. Reception told us to use gazebo outside while it was cold and raining. Eventually a room was made available that was really a store room for the overflow furniture from the private functions.

Magnifique!
This exquisite and historic chateau is ideal for visitors to Chartres. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Our room in one of the turrets was like a throwback to the eighteenth century. Not for anyone who is pressed for time. It is a wonderful place to relax and soak in the splendor. We also enjoyed the dining experience. The apple tart is the best we have ever savored!

MANY CHANGES BUT NOT GOOD ONES
I stayed here several times like 7-12 years ago and everything was phenomenal but now this wonderful place has changed and not for the good. Dining was incredible but not the case any more. All young kids are there now as employees. Peeling wallpaper, hallway and elevator is filthy. Its not even close to what it used to be, very disappointing. There were no other guests staying when we were there and they refused to offer an upgraded room and gave us a room right next to the elevator.

Room price OK, food prices ridiculous
It is a beautiful chateau. Definitely feel like royalty when staying there. However, the food was good (not amazing) and too expensive. Staff were nice and wine recommendations very good. Breakfast was terrible (except for the pastry) and they charged over $20 for it. All in all we spent about $250 on the room and over $300 on food/bev.

Nice Hotel in a stunning environment
The hotel is set in a stunning Chateau between Rambouillet and Chartres. The property is beautiful, the staff extremely helpful and professional. Unfortunately the rooms are starting to date. There is no Wi Fi, TV Screen is minuscule. The Mini Bar dates from another era. Beds are nice and firm, but the Bathroom is very 1970s. Ammenities in the rooms are passable, but not what you expect in this kind of property.
The morning breakfast was the best we have seen in a while, fresh, plentiful and very varied.
The private park is perfect for a leasurely walk, even if some of the outter alleys could be cleared in a better way.
It would not take much to make this property the stunning hotel it used to be.
A little attention to modern needs and amenities, a little less routine approach would propel this property in one of my preferred destination near Paris.

A Hotel with Character
Hotel presents very well upon arrival. The grounds are impressive.
The staff were professional, courteous and clearly customer oriented (perhaps to a fault in allowing a full sized pet dog into the formal dining room).
The overall ambience (and pricing) was of quality but a signifcant detraction was the general condition of the common areas, eg: the carpeting was worn and faded as was some of the upholstery . One expects that a older building will have issues due to vintage and this typically adds to the character - as it does at this hotel. However, given that the hotel aspires to be a quality and classy "get away", it is in sore need of redecorating.
The location was convenient for a one night stay as part of a round trip from Paris through Normandy and the Loire Valley.

Would definitely return
Very nice, beautiful surroundings, expensive in terms of extras like water, etc. Complained about not having any plastic water bottles to take out walking. There in July and it was hot, had a fan, could have used another though as we were on the top floor, but one was the limit. Restaurant was excellent, one of the best we'd experienced in France.
