Great hotel
adrian, 4-night trip

8/10 Good

It was right on the river, which was very nice. I loved that we could eat dinner there. The room was okay. I felt like it needed a good spring cleaning with cobwebs in all of the windows.
Cheri, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Lovely break away with my grandchild
Carol, 3-night trip

8/10 Good

The history of the hotel and the area, is very interesting as well as the Haverthwaite railway and close to the motor museum, both well worth a visit. The hotel itself although a little dated was charming. The staff were friendly and obliging but there may be more of them needed for busier times. The food was very good breakfast and evening meals delicious and a lunchtime sandwich also delicious.
Julie, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

The restaurant was excellent although the service was slow as there was no Maitre d' at the door to welcome and we had to wait quite a few minutes to be seated. However, the waiter cleared a table for us efficiently upon request. The setting was perfect for our outdoor weekend: rapidly flowing river outside our window and lovely views into the valley. The room was comfortable and spacious fitting myself, my husband and grown son adequately.

The accommodation has a great location and the Facilities are very good, but overall the hotel could do with a facelift

Ian, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

The only thing that was an irritant was the lift it was hit or miss and we were on 3rd floor
David, 3-night trip

4/10 Poor

The staff we interacted with were very friendly being Jill and Harry. The premises needs a lot of attention. Breakfast needs an over hall re fruit selection. Arrived mid breakfast time fruit was finished except for prunes. Ran out of common brands of whisky. I don't know if there is a manager but was unsighted whilst we were there.
John, 3-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Beautiful place, nice staff. We loved the large pool, hot tub, and sauna. Very decent hot break-fast in the morning and our room was large and comfortable. Only thing that would have been nice is to have a bar fridge in our room. The intended space was there for it, but it wasn’t there.
Theodore, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

A beautiful location. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the lady on the front desk when I arrived in the afternoon and a lady serving drinks in the dobby bar. The pool is fab, as was the steam room. The food was nice. On the whole a very relaxing stay, with good staff to help you. The hotel is perhaps a little dated but still perfectly lovely for a relaxing stay in the lakes.

Needs a lot of updating. Room dated and lots of cobwebs. Dirty plates and bowls at breakfast.
Rebecca, 3-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Beautiful, charming hotel, pleasantly suprised!

Such a pleasant suprise, a beautiful hotel with clean rooms. Slightly dated but in condition. Gorgeous views and very friendly staff. There is also a lovely spa. Within a good distance from Lake windemere, ambleside and bowness walks (about 30 minutes). This is a beautiful and well priced spot for the south lake district exploring, highly recommend!

ANDREW, 2-night trip

Enjoyable stay

We enjoyed our stay, however our room was small and dark but comfortable . Staff were very nice. The hotel did look tired in places. Would stay again but would ask for a different room
Olga, 2-night trip

6/10 Okay

The hotel is in an historic building in a very pretty spot, but the conversion was done a long time ago and it's looking tired, but it's clean. The staff are nice too, and it is good value. I've only two negatives, breakfast does not begin until 8am which meant I got a late start to my day, the other niggle was loud music playing in the restaurant. That alone is enough to put me off going back.
Andrew, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Wonderful.

We thoughly enjoyed our stay I would definitely recommend. And we'll be back next year. Its in such a lovely location. The breakfast and evening dinner was just lovely. Thanks to all the staff for your incredible service.
