Riad Les Ammonites was the perfect place to stay on our trip to Marrakech. The staff (especially Fehd & Francesca) is incredibly helpful and goes above and beyond to make your trip fantastic. The excursions we booked through the hotel were all reasonably priced, smoothly executed, and made the whole trip more fun. Best of all, the Riad employs an authentic Moroccan chef and the food is incredible (better than any of the restaurants or street food in the actual Medina that we tried).
Some food tips to travelers: try the Khili (Egg) Tagine for breakfast at least once. Try the chicken tagine for dinner w/ an affordable bottle of wine at least once as well. We had dinner at the riad 3 out of the 4 nights we were there and wished we hadn't gone out for dinner at all!
SAFETY RELATED: Having cellular internet and mapping directions to the hotel is really important. At night, being able to follow those directions back is crucial. In addition, NO STREET IS EVER CLOSED IN THE MEDINA. Saying this is a primary tactic of many locals to keep tourists in the Medina and guiding them away from their "hotel" while they are lost, then demanding a large tip for their "services" were possibly the only negative experience we had in Morocco. Once we caught onto this tactic, Marrakech felt much safer at night.
