Overall the experience was okay. It is a family hotel with various annex buildings and a restaurant. It would probably be okay for a vacation, if the nightly rate were lower. The room was cramped to walk around in, but did have a balcony and a kitchen from the 1970s.
We were traveling from Switzerland home to Stuttgart, Germany and wanted to check out the area along Lake Constance. The night before, I was looking at the Travelocity site on a smartphone, trying to find a good deal. Since it was the day before the stay, there was not much available. I found the hotel Storchen with room for two adults and two children for a price certain price. The pictures showed it to be okay, and I reserved the room, since it was about 20 Euro cheaper than the Novotel (with indoor swimming pool and modern rooms) in Constance. There were plenty of parking spots outside and the reception personell were nice. There was not much open in the town when we checked in, since we got there at 7:30 pm, and we ate in the restaurant attached to the hotel. The adult food was great, but the fries tasted off.
The next morning, we ate the provided hotel breakfast, which was nice enough, even though the plates ran out and weren't restocked. The orange juice was freshly pressed and tasted great. The layout of the breakfast buffet was not very practical, which caused some backlog during the busy breakfast time.
At checkout, found out that two kids under 10 had increased the price by 90 Eur. Too much, I think.
