The place was nice. But we were told that if we drove to the hotel instead of cremallera, we could drop luggage and park next to hotel. Not true. We had to leave car a block away and carry bags uphill before parking another block away. The shuttle supposedly stops at 3pm but would not take me back to hotel at 2:10pm ! Total disappointment. Also, the basilicas chimes go on every half hour through the night.

Staying at this property allowed us to experience the peace and beauty of the monastery after the tourists left. We attended the vesper service and heard the boy's choir. Highly recommend. No a/c in room but we were comfortable as it was not a hot day. Basic but very comfortable. Wonderful views.

Ideal for the abbey
Nice hotel but twice they've put me in a room on the cliff side. It would be nice to be in a room looking outwards (as I asked for this time)

Do this trip ASAP-amazing
Amazing experience, hotel was best option for staying at Montserrat. While very dated, and beds were a bit stiff…it is a nice place for one night…we had a wonderful time hiking, visiting and enjoying the spirituality and views of Montserrat.

Quiet and serene
The hotel is converted pilgrimage housing according to the brochure. The room was reasonably spacious, but the view was the best part. It was a little confusing getting to the right place, so I recommend calling the hotel beforehand to get the best directions from your starting point. It is a very nice break from the hectic city, but it can be quite busy mid-morning when the day trip visitors arrive, but early morning and afternoon are quiet.

Serene mountain Abbey
The hotel is simple but the rooms are larger than many hotels. It is right beside the Basilica. Expect to walk a lot. There are limited food options in the area, but this place is all about the Abbey and the mountains, which were beautiful and serene. Bells every quarter hour may annoy some visitors if they are light sleepers.

Must walk - Can't sleep!
Hotel did not specify that guests need to park more than 1/4 mile away from the property - down a hill. I understand it is a historical property and parking might be limited - but no mitigation steps are being taken (shuttle/preferred area for hotel guests). Also, bells ring hourly throughout the night making it difficult to sleep.

We had the unique opportunity to stay here right before Spain shut down for the C virus. We decided to rent a car, which was such a blessing because they stopped the funicular the day before we were done with our stay. The staff was very caring even though they were concerned for their safety and future. The Hotel I believe used to be part of the Monastery ... Sure, the room was a little dated ... added to the charm. The view right down to the monastery was amazing, if quite quiet because of the impending lock down. Our beds were not as hard as previously reviewed. We slept well. We got breakfast and dinner both nights. The breakfast sandwiches we took away for our last night in Spain kept us going for our night in Barcelona, when all the restaurants were closed. Food was very good, a little on the fatty side, served on white table cloths with excellent service to match. Wine and beer was extra, but we knew that. All in all, a great stay during a difficult time. Prayers and blessings to all the folks up there!

It’s always an amazing experience to stay at the Montserrat mountain and Abat Cisneros has the perfect location. It’s the second time I stayed there and this time we got an even better room with a straight view to the monastery! The room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Bathroom was big with a bathtub. I do recommend this hotel and the experience of staying the night at the mountain.
