A good place to stay
Friendly people, nice room. Free parking close by but the Kings Arms doesn't have it's own car park

2/10 Poor

I paid so that I would be able to sleep. However, although I realised that the pub was playing music I was expecting that it would stop at 11pm (or at least within 10 minutes afterwards). Perhaps I should have asked earlier but slightly worried with lots drinking. As it was now 00.15 I finally want tell the barman that I paid to sleep. Now I definitely want my money back. This should never be used for a hotel if they play music so loud in the late evenings.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the King's Arms. The landlord & barman friendly & welcoming. The room & ensuite was clean, comfortable beds and everything provided that we needed. Competitive price too. Would most definitely recommend and will go back next time we are down in Cornwall.

Ok for the low price
This is the kind of hotel that is a pub with rooms above, so the details about check-in time being 3pm-7pm are not correct, you can check in during the evening. The room itself was clean and all up to standard. The shower was very good. It was a shame that the latch on the sash window was missing (broken off) - even though the room was on 3rd floor I would have felt more secure being able to latch it. I mentioned this on checking out. You reach the rooms via the staff corridor behind the bar and up carpeted stairs, and as the pub welcomes well behaved dogs, this could be an issue for anyone with allergies as the carpet was not very clean and did have dog hair. Breakfast is cooked by the pub chef from about 10am. As I had to leave earlier, the landlord kindly let me have some tea and toast for free though I had to go in the kitchen and make this myself. The welcome was friendly and the room itself and facilities were good, though I didn't think the mattress was the comfiest. For the price paid, all in all it was reasonable.

Good atmosphere
Friendly pub owner and operators, as well as local crowd made the experience enjoyable. Room was clean and contained necessities. Nothing fancy, and could do with a little updating, but all was fine. I didn't order food, but the owner offered to make a sandwich, even though it was after serving hours. I think listing said there was parking on site. It's actually street parking, which isn't guaranteed.

Run down place
Old and run down pub with few rooms in poor condition, overall poor standard. No food served, but we was offered breakfast 09:00 at surcharge of aroind 9 £/ person Could not accept credit card , and only ATM in the small down was off line, had to drive 16 km back and forth to withdraw cash. Wifi did not work, got a reduction in room rate120 instead of 145£) that was high for the room standard

The bed linen was clean. The room was knackered. The tv didn't work, there was mould in the shower and the wallpaper was peeling off. There were street lights outside the window but the curtains were thin lace so didn't keep the room dark.
