We were badgered to sign up for an express check-in, but when we got there, we were told the screen to do this wasn't working, so we joined a queue. On check out there was no one on reception so we tried the express check out, this time the screen was working. It said it would tell us where to drop the room key cards on completion bug didn't! So we had to go round the hotel to find a member of staff, who said the drop box was by the exit door (which is no where near the reception). You might think this is finicky but it was symptomatic of other experiences during our stay. Thx web site says you can't reserve a table you just turn up,do wd did SBC the majority of tables had a reserve sign on them! We picked one that wasn't reserved but 5 minutes later a staff member came and placed a reserved sign on our table and told us we had 90 minutes to vacate it, no finesse or apology! Lastly the food quantities were meagre. I had a mixed grill and ig was tiny, I got far more for my English breakfast the following day. Apart from that we had a lovely room, very comfortable and really good garden views. We used to eat here regularly years ago when we lived in the area, fo we thought we would treat ourselves by staying there. Would we go back again, no, not with what happened and we couldn't recommend them to anyone else either, we just felt disappointed.
