Mystical and Beyond Compare
This resort, its name an homage to the indigenous tribe known as the Karumbas, is tucked into a mystical nook of the Nilgiris (Blue Mountains) near Coonoor Taluk. The grounds are replete with lush tropical greenery and gorgeous acorn, clove, and jacarada trees, and much more. The birds are fantastic - from the red-whiskered and sociable bulbuls to the rare great billed heron, you will not be disappointed. The entire resort is like a tree house - the food was delicious at every meal with dozens of options western and Indian, the staff was warm, friendly and lovely. And the rooms were beautifully appointed - rustic arts and crafts style with fresh cuttings and flowers to boot, great air conditioning, and windows and decks (with screens if you like) that open out onto the most spectacular views. So much to learn and revere in this holy spot. Be well advised to avoid Ooty unless you prefer noise, trash and over development.

For the price, one expects more ...
The resort is set in beautiful surroundings, but is quite a distance from the nature spots in and around Coonoor and Ooty. Unless you plan to spend all the time in the resort, plan for long drives to all those spots. The restaurant serves clean, healthy food - but is otherwise quite boring and repetitive. None of the preparations really stand out. They serve only beer. While the rooms are clean and have great views, the mattresses are not comfortable. And there isn't enough hot water. The biggest disappointment, considering the price, is that they do not provide basic accommodation for drivers. Drivers are expected to sleep in the cars. And the drivers weren't happy with the food and drinking water arrangements. At the very least, the management should be upfront about this, and not give a misleading impression about arrangements for the drivers.

Resort is nice, everything else needs improvement
First impressions of the resort were very good. Good location away from the spoilt hill stations. Everything is clean, well maintained, done up well & the setting is beautiful. However, there are a few flaws that when taken together left us feeling less satisfied. The service, while friendly, lacked any urgency or thoroughness. If you stay in one of the rooms at the bottom of the hill & don't want to make the trek all the way up to the restaurant or reception, you had to call for the buggy. Sometimes it would arrive & sometimes you'd wait for 15 minutes & give up before walking up. Want more water? Have to call twice. The food was presented well & kept covered. Small quantities were put out on the buffet & refilled as & when needed, so everything was fresh. Most of the time you have to ask for paper napkins, forks, water, etc. All the Indian dishes were good but continental dishes were not. We were there for Christmas & the eve meal was quite bad. Activities were the most problematic. Everything was very corny & only meant for people who like simple games & want to socialize with other guests. For those who want to utilize the facilities quietly, you're out of luck. There was a private party that took up the hall, so the facilities were not available to the rest of the guests. They mention Christmas activities & games but they conduct games like "Radha and Krishna"! Live music consists of two old guys who were not interested in playing or singing good music. Spotty Wifi.

Location, Location, Location
Very unique resort nestled in the mountains along with the local wildlife. Breathtaking views and scenery are one of a kind. Nice pool area & treehouse dining was beautiful. The staff were great (especially in the restaurant) as they tried to ensure we were happy. The only downside was the cleanliness of the room. The room was quite dirty & the linens were stained and smelled a little musty. The shower curtain was nasty and the floor really needed a good mopping. The WIFI is very spotty due to the location of the resort but a little downtime away from the net was a good thing. Overall, I would recommend this resort.

Three nights in the Nigiris
This is a wonderful resort, not only because of its physical beauty, but because of the excellent staff. It really is one of the best places that I have ever visited in all my world travels over the last 50 years. It is literally nestled in the mountains. WE did not take advantage of the guided walks in the forest, but that would have been a great experience. The rooms were large, clean and quiet. The staff were very helpful, and the restaurant folks went out of their way to make you comfortable. Kudos to Lakshminarayan, Leena and all the other folks.......

Don’t get fooled by what you see on the Hotel webs
 Customer service team in Mumbai is a pain to deal with  Rooms are cramped  Monkey Menace  Not safe for kids  Not friendly for old age people  No privacy in the bathrooms  Food is Average  Not enough parking facility  Lack of coordination with the staff  Its much cooler in Coonoor & OOty compared to where Kurumba is located For the price you pay its better to stay at Taj or Gymkhana or Coonoor Club

Paradise on the mountain!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at the Kurumba Village Resort. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful and knowledgable. The facilities were luxurious and clean. The food was to die for- best food we had in our entire two weeks in India. The resort had a charming and stylish aesthetic. We really appreciated the activities offered at the resort- bird watching and orthithology, spice plantation tours, snooker lessons, trekking, bon fires, tea time, and more! the views, especially at the pool and from the open air dining lodge were incredible- photos don't do it justice. The only downside for us city folk was that we were alittle afraid of the monkeys sometimes, especially when they paid us a long visit on our porch. We would highly recommend this resort anyone looking to travel in this region of India.

Exceptional place to stay.
One of the most exceptional hotels we have stayed at. If you enjoy a peaceful natural environment, good food and excellent staff, this is a great place to visit. The guided walking trips into the jungle should not be missed. The hotel is situated in an isolated jungle surrounding. We saw wild elephant and bison, monkeys would often visit our balcony. Suggest min 4 night stay, we stayed a week and were sad to leave.

Awesome experience
A great place to get rejuvenated. Not far from the city of Coimbatore yet cut off from the hustle bustle of city life. Food was awesome(South and North Indian). Staff was courteous to accommodate guest's request if item not on the menu. Staff was very courteous and went the extra mile. They view hotel guests as their own guests hence the hospitality is unparalleled. Lots of activities, for both kids and adults alike, if you are tired of cozying up within your room . Serene atmosphere with the valley's trees deciding their own weather. It rained lightly in the valley whereas it was sunny just a few kilometers away in neighboring town. Can listen to the nonstop gushing sound of water flowing through the rocks from a nearby stream. Pure and chilly water. Few cascades a short walk away.

Unbelievably beautiful location.
Stunningly beautiful mountain location. The drive up the mountain is a bit scary but totally worth it. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly and staff are very eager to ensure you have a great visit. Food was fantastic. Dinner in the tree top was a terrific experience.

A Gem of a place - must visit
Absolutely the best holiday resort we have stayed in around the world. Great place to chill out if you like the mountains, excellent weather and yet shouting distance away from other lovely view points in the Ooty and Coonoor hills, not to mention the lovely train ride from Coonoor to Ooty. At the resort you can chill out listening to the stream, taking in the spice perfume (the resort is a spice plantation too), and enjoy the sight of the mountains and surrounding forest while in the infinity pool. It is always great weather for a swim here as it is just at the foothills. Avoid day trips to Ooty and Coonoor towns themselves, instead opt for lesser known view points and picnic spots such as Emerald Lake. The train ride is a must.

Wonderful stay in beautiful setting
Staying at the Kurumba Resort is a very special experience. The staff were v welcoming & helpful - on arrival we were given flower garlands & welcome drinks. The room was very comfortable with nice touches like candles, fruit & good design & a beautiful balcony view of mountains. We hadn't realised that all meals were included (v good buffet food) as well as afternoon tea. There were also complementary activities including a plantation walk, a nature trek (I only saw a wild water buffalo & South Indian Squirrel, but there were elephants nearby) and an evening magic show as family entertainment - the v loud music for this spoiled the peace for anyone not watching but clearly was appreciated by children. The sustainable ecological approach also deserved praise, when elsewhere India suffers from plastic pollution everywhere. Overall a super place to stay.
