The Posada is a winery, and really the only reason to be here is to enjoy the wine (here and at neighbouring wineries), the restaurant, and the lovely quiet countryside. Unfortunately, the room we were assigned was right next to the restaurant (and on the corridor into the restaurant), and it sometimes felt as if everything from Muzak to passionate conversations were right in our room. It generally quieted down by about 10:30, but still... Moreover, the posada is adding a whole new block of rooms, so there was lots of ongoing building work and some of the staff seemed preoccupied with the preparations for opening. With all the additional guests, it's my guess the room we were assigned would become unbearably noisy.
Despite what I write about noise, part of the joy of being at Campotinto was to be in the main building, with the common areas, antiques and general atmosphere. I'm not sure how that will all work with the additional block of rooms.
All in all, we had a great time here and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It's not cheap, but that's Uruguay.
