Hotel Poseidon was a disappointment that was not worth the approximately $120/night we paid, for many reasons including staff issues, maintenance issues, and facility quality.
Upon arriving we were not greeted by the staff. Despite visibly struggling to carry our bags, we were never offered help. After alerting the staff to our presence, we had a chilly/not-friendly check-in and were offered a room on the ground floor with a view of a concrete wall. This was disappointing as the hotel as the hotel did not seem full. We were never offered help getting our luggage to our room.
The room itself was ok, but not worth $120/night. Overnight, we discovered the air conditioning had major maintenance issues which meant it shut off every 30 minutes or so, blinking brightly over the bed and causing the room to become very hot. It was too late to call for a repair. The rest of the room was ok, not great.
We decided to try and have a few drinks by the pool. Again, we had a chilly reception. After ordering we provided a server our room number and verified it along with my name on the computer, leading us to believe the drinks were being put on our account that we would pay upon check out. Later, as we started to leave, a server abruptly stopped us saying we needed to pay now as we didn’t have a card on file (or something similar). That’s understandable, though we felt like he felt we were trying to dine and dash.
Bottom line: Skip Poseidon. Stay at the Oro Verde or similar.
