We absolutely loved Peniche Serenity
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left (after an excellent breakfast, of fresh bread & pastries + omelettes), we were made to feel very welcome. Lovely peaceful, comfortable, warm spot in winter. We'd love to go on one of their cruises.

Unique? Was on a canal. Absolutely loved this place/ ship. After nearly 2 months touring france and coming across some of the most crappiest and rudest people serenity was a blessing. Wonderful, polite hosts. Amenties brilliant. Brealfast was an event

A hidden gem
The boat was easy to find with parking very close by along with shops and places to eat. The boat was spacious and comfortable. The cabin and private bathroom were well proportioned for a boat. The hosts were very very welcoming and could not do enough for us. Fantastic breakfast in the morning. Loved the two resident boat cats too - Salt and Pepper. I would definitely recommend this boat to others for a short or longer stay.

Wow - best B&B experience - different from usual!
What a fantastic way to spend a stopover! Found Serenity completely by accident and now completely hooked - I can only hope they are berthed at Sillery when I next drive down to Geneva in the spring. Unlike any other B & B I have stayed in you are made so welcome - excellent conversation with hosts and other guests - they are happy for you to eat your evening meal (be it pizza ordered by hosts for you or whatever you have brought with you) in the communal area - they also have a good selection of wines on board. I honestly can’t recommend it more highly!! Great breakfast too - loved the fruit salad!! The hosts have an excellent knowledge of the local area and can easily direct you to restaurants and vineyards that are the best to visit.

A Great Place To Relax
Although this may not be everyone's cup of tea, we really enjoyed staying with Graham, Claire and their cats Salt and Pepper. First of all, this is a very large boat. When you walk into the salon, its size is impressive. Our stateroom was a nice size, very easy to navigate for two people with an ensuite head with a very comfortable shower. This is not a place to bring large suitcases or stay at if you have any mobility issues because it is a canal barge and getting on and off and navigating the stairs is not something to be done with a 20 kg suitcase. Their knowledge of the area around them is also very helpful and they are passionate about food and champagne, which is why we are all here - right.

It's a BARGE... a floating gem
We were greeted by Claire, a young Englishwoman, who enthusiastically guided us through the whole experience and was never far away if any help or advice was required (they live on board). Graham, her Kiwi husband was also on hand if anything else was needed, such as hauling your luggage up onto ship. Okay, there are cats on board (and I'm no cat fan) but they're no trouble. You can't smell them and they leave you alone, so not a problem. And there are tricky steps to negotiate to climb on board... but then its a barge for goodness sake! Don't even consider it if you're elderly or dodgy on your feet, it's as simple as that... or if you don't like cats, obviously. The barge is beautifully fitted out and very comfortable. Drinks are available on board at very reasonable prices although they do allow you to take your own too. There's no evening food though and only one restaurant within walking distance, but Reims isn't far away to drive, cycle or take a taxi. There is a supermarket very near by and a Pizza shop as a backup, just don't leave it too late as they shut around 7 I believe. Claire booked us a table at Le Jardin Brasserie though, which was superb. The setting is most pleasant though and it's a pity we didn't have more time and better weather to enjoy sitting on deck or a dip in the hot tub. Maybe next time...

Unique and wonderful place
We have a wonderful and unique experience staying at serenity barge. The location is ideal if you are coming from the Benelux countries and plan to do some champagne visits. The boat is really nice and comfortable. Rooms are clean. The keepers, a very nice couple and their two cats, make you feel at home, and they help you with anything you may need. Breakfast is included. They also have a collection of wines and champagnes for very decent prices. We can highly recommend the place for anyone - you will not be disappointed!

Unique place to spend a night
We found the Serenity Barge when looking for somewhere to make an overnight stay enroute from Italy to England. The barge was easy to find and there was free parking alongside it. We were made very welcome and shown straight to our room which was very comfortable and well equipped. Our bedroom also benefitted from a small window which provided a view across the canal on which the barge was moored. After settling in we walked into Reims to visit the Cathedral and eat at one of nearby restaurants. Both the Cathedral and restaurant did not disappoint. We needed to leave early the next morning to drive to Calais which we did without any difficulty. Even though we needed to leave before the advertised time for breakfast this posed no problem and, we sat at the table in the lounge and ate a breakfast that was a delight to look at and delicious to eat. The Serenity Barge is a unique place to stay and made an excellent stop over. We would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying in Reims.
